Hi all, I've been reading these forums for quite some time now, but this is my first post. I'd just like to give my opinion on the musical score from "The Message" in my opinion, the music from this episode is not only the best of any firefly episode, but the best of anything flying. theres that one piano score that repeats itself throughout the whole episode...evrytime i hear it i want to hear it again. anybody have any thoughts or opinions on this?

I like the score from The Message as well. In fact it is the only in episode music that I really paid any attention to. I love how the music is the only sound in the last scene with Mal and Zoe carrying the coffin.

Yeah, and it's so much more moving once you hear the commentary on the dvd. I mean, how the composer and cast were so moved, and how it was written (the whole scene, including music) as a goodbye to the whole show. It was so beautifully done...

I'm a huge fan of soundtracks, and the Firefly music does work rather well - though no doubt the western tinges were part of the reason the studio thought people wouldn't get it.

Snuffy Walden, apart from having the best name this side of Thomas Wanker on Buffy, does a great "stirring" score on West Wing. Christopher Franke's B5 scores were a huge highlight.

Right now, I'm getting into the CSI and CSI:Miami scores.

And can I recommened the Gattaca score that Joss mentions in Objects in Space? It just tears your heart out.
