I blame my Dad for the snow. He flew through MSP last week on business. During his layover, he called to give me a hard time about our "lack of snow." As he put it, he could "still see small trees." So, it's all his fault. (Which means so is the cold I got from shoveling.)

I blame my cousin. She went to Jamaica on a mission trip with her sister-in-law. I saw the old suitcase loaded with toys and such for the kids (we had to duct-tape it shut as the latches were problematic), so I know it's a mission trip. but while pushing 8-12 inches off their respective vans, I found myself thinking "Mission trip...Jamaica...RIGHT."

She's going to bring me back a bag of Blue Mountain coffee. I hope she brings back some of the weather too.

Blame - well, I blame a co-worker who just got back from a cruise. No particular reason, I just do! But that's ok - I'm in Las Vegas next week! So if we have another nasty storm the week of the 16th, it'll be my fault !

St. Paul and her suburbs are full of browncoats. Heck, we're working with city hall to get the name of West 7th changed to "Captain Tight Pants Avenue". :)

I bought an extra DVD set just for loaning/converting duty.

I'd love to have a Browncoat weekend. Let me know if someone else in the Cities would like to coordinate and we can exchange phone/emails in private :)

We'll have to watch out for that. As long as it isn't over Valentine's Day. I have to go back and help out at the flower shop that I used to work at before the kids came along. It's a real pain to double bag everything to protect it from subzero temps. But at least I don't have to do the deliveries... that really sucks at this time of year.

Mmmmmm - has anyone ever noticed how good flower shops smell in the winter? There's something about walking out of a blizzard into a mini-tropical zone.

Not to mention where did they film it? Now there's a job - going out and scouting sites for location shoots. There was an article in Cult TV, I believe, interviewing the woman who does that for Stargate SG-1.

And how many times now have I seen places in other shows that remind me of the location shoots for Firefly? Oh, once or twice.

I like to go to Bachman's because of that fresh-flower smell too. It kind of takes the edge off of winter.

'ello fellow Minnesotans (or former Minnesotans...you can leave the state, but the state never leaves you! Hence "the ice pack" group out in Hollywood!).

I'm in St Paul...working hard to convert more Minnesotans (and friends anywhere else in the world).

I bought dvds for a couple of friends (both of whom love the show now and are taking it with them on trips to convert more). Have talked quite a few into purchasing dvds themselves. And have 2 spare sets that I've got loaned out with a waiting list. Mwahh haa haa, mine is an evil laugh...

SO hopefully a few will drop in here as well.

I'd be up for a gathering. We had a bit of one last friday (from folks on the official board). Always up to talking Firefly & getting to know folk.

Me I've got DVD's for two freinds into sci-fi. Not much but they influence others who will help spread the word. Anyway just so everyone knows I haven't lived in Minnesota since I was one and a half years old. But I still have a love for the state I visited for the first time in my adult life in 1993. You folks in St.Paul have a great skyline and I was really impressed by your skyway system all these tall buildings linked together by a system of walkways. In fact no city on earth as far as I know has so many(or any for that matter) tall buildings linked together by walkways.

I also noticed how fancy the lobies of your major buildings were fountains, gold looking plateing,fancy tile floors. Trust me I've lived in Boston for three years working in tall buildings, been a visitor to a few tall buildings in New York City and the interiors of Twin City buildings are unique.

You know during my first adult trip I asked many store owners for postcards and they had none? Never found any either, guess it's not a tourist city. Well it should be if people from else where had heard of something as impressive as the skyway system that links the tall buildings of St.Paul it might be.

Now for a fun fact what do the Twin Cities and Boston Mass. have in common? Give up? it's the T symbol of mass-transit,it's identical to Boston's except in Boston it's purple and in the twin cities it's red,other than that it's the same.

And I'm proud to be born in a state that elected a non-republicrat govener,good for you no other state in recent memory has managed that trick.

Anyway I hope to visit Minnesota soon it's alot of fun. And yes Stockton CA is in Northern California just 70 miles south of Sacremento.

Surely you mean the Minneapolis skyline, right?

Funny little factoid - those who live in Minneapolis are mortally terrified of driving in St. Paul, and those who live in St. Paul think that driving in Minneapolis is insane. My sister describes it thus:

Picture two fishing nets spread out on a sandy beach. The Minneapolis net is nicely spread out, all connected and neat, with maybe a few holes here and there. Now go to the St. Paul net, pick it up in the middle and drop it. Now the threads are a complete jumble - starting here, ending there, connecting WAY over there. That's because St. Paul was first and their streets are a combination of the original wagon ruts with an attempt to provide modern transportation. Minneapolis came after, and so a little more thought was allowed. Why they decided to put in so many one-ways, though - who knows!

We do have an intricate web of skyways. In Minneapolis you can walk from the central core of downtown all the way down to the convention center on the south side - 10 city blocks - all indoors. And let me tell you, that is a LIFE SAVER in the dreaded winter time when the wind tunnel effect can knock you right off your feet or tear the skin off your face. Doesn't save you from freezing to death at the bus stop, but at least you can stay warm getting there. In the summer, it's a great way to avoid the walk/don't walk signs when you're running late for the bus.
