Yeah, join the fire service-tour the country, one fire at a time. I've already done more tours of duty in NSW and Vic than I'd care to admit and it looks like I might be up for more of the same this year. That is, if SA doesn't decide to become a raging inferno for Ash Wednesday (the reunion tour). First of the Total Fire Ban days for the season tomorrow, and they've officially brought fire danger season forward to start on Oct 15.
My personal speciality tho is the HAZardous MATerials and Atmospheric Monitoring (ie, knowing just how much nasty shite there is in the air, and knowing how little is required to turn us all into reavers.

Nicodemus - I recall Ash Wednesday vividly - and I was safely in Melbourne - I am saying a prayer for you - but if you find yourself with R&R in Melbourne call me - I'll PM you my mobile number! You are one brave man... I have a cousin stationed at Lara in Geelong too - he washes the black soot out of his skin for days after he's been 'to the front'...
