S3 isn't as bad as some people *coughchrisisallwatchthedamnthingalreadycough* think it is. It is dark, but a good dark. I didn't have any problems with it til last couple of episodes when a certain character turned sugary sweet and should have never ever ever done that. But I can live with it because the season has so much to do with Wesley. mm. Wesley.
And S4 needs to be watched all at the same time. As in 22-hour marathon (or close to it as possible). It didn't do a thing for me when it aired on tv, but it made more sense once I got the DVDs and watched them as quickly as possible.

For me, watching them in rapid-succession on DVD doesn't improve it much. Or at all. I was really enjoying the season as it originally aired, right up 'til

ep18 when one of our BDHs showed up, and the storyline took a weird tangent that STILL seems to have nothing to do with what was going on up 'til that point. In fact, watching them rapid-fire on DVD just seems to emphasize this problem even more.
But S3? Man, that's good stuff...

What works for me is that the Fang Gang made some insanely stupid decisions, as if they were lobotimized right before each episode. But if you realize that the bulk of the season takes place in a timeframe of a few weeks, it makes more sense that they couldn't make a sound decision in the lack of time they had with all this crazy shit happening around them. I didn't say it makes sense, just moresense. 
Watching them in rapid succession is dizzying and confusing--just like the characters! I find that being half braindead and near drooling while watching the DVDs gives me a better perspective of what they were going through.
I was completely lost when it was first airing, because waiting one week (or one month, which happened a lot) between each episode was just really bad. The WB was never kind to their scheduling.

I didn't find the Jasmine stuff all that difficult to comprehend. Cordy was acting weird and then we learned it wasn't really Cordy. The whole thing was more than a little surreal but it didn't make the season much worse than it already was.
I don't hate any season of any of Joss's shows. Some are less rewatchable than others, but each season has some jewels of moments.

When it's inside Cordy, from its attitude to its actions (and everything in-between) it's just in completely uber-evil arch-villain-mode... then when it becomes Jasmine, it's all peace and light and loving humanity, wanting to make the world a wonderful candy-mountain place. Even during her big fight with Angel in ep21, she's saying all she wanted was to make people happy, offer them paradise, and all that. So, whatever happened to character continuity?
And just where did raising the Beast, blotting out the sun, resurrecting Angelus, etc., fit into Jasmine's plan? Remember Evil Cordy saying--more than once--"bringing forth and keeping Angelus is CRUCIAL to my plan." Um, why was that, exactly?
Some have said--and this sounds like complete rationalizing after the fact to me--that it was all a distraction to keep the gang busy and hide her pregnancy. Well, as we found out, she was able to do pretty much any kind of magical spell she needed, so why not just grab Connor, pile into the station wagon, do a spell that would screw up any locator spell the gang tried to do, and head for Akron or Fargo 'til the 'baby' came? Bringing back Angelus as nothing but a DISTRACTION seems about as dumb a move as you could make, especially since he very nearly killed her at least twice.
In reality, Charisma's pregnancy threw the writers for an unexpected loop, and they had to come up with the Jasmine storyline pretty late in the game--and it shows.
But I'm with you--I don't hate any of Joss' shows, or even any individual eps. When I rewatch them, I go in order, and don't skip a single one. S4 of Angel, especially the last part of it, is one of my least favorites, but I still watch it.
And this is getting dangerously close to completely hijacking this thread, so I won't say any more about that.

Please, god. No more singing. It's just...too painful.
On the other hand though, I really like Lorne. As my mom put it, he's kind of like the Dr. Phil of the supernatural set (though certainly less annoying 
). And the idea of working through your problems at a karaoke bar is pretty unique, if you ask me.
And the whole thing with Darla is actually kind of cool. I never really liked her character at first, but I like the idea of exploring the relationship her and Angel had.
"Guise Will Be Guise" was a great episode (and I liked the play on words; only "Beer Bad" tops my favorite episode names). I hope we get to see more about Wesley in the future, especially his past. He's really the type of character that has to grow on you.
Has anyone else noticed that there's been guest spots from three characters that were on "Kindred: The Embraced"? That is, if you count appearnaces on Buffy. I guess Joss realized what a great show that was too.

Saying "dark times are ahead" is putting it lightly. Was the collective whole of Mutant Enemy suffering from depression? I don't know which is worse, this or Buffy. Not to say that dark is bad, though. Things certainly are getting interesting.
The past three episodes were owned by Juliet Landau. I forgot just how cool Drusilla was (not to mention creepy). No one plays crazy quite like her.
And strange though it may be, I actually like Lindsey. Not too keen on Lilah, but he's pretty cool. It's hard to imagine that he tried out for Riley.
