Inara's turn

LOCATION: RIVER'S ROOM, THEN THE COMMON AREA

BOOK:Inara, she needs water."

Inara nods to Book. Disentangling herself from River, she stands and follows him as he brings the group into the common area.

As they enter the common area, Inara spots the new arrival, Damon, on the floor in front of the infirmary door. Glancing back at Book, who's now getting River settled in a chair, she approaches Damon.

His clothes are mussed, and he wears the shocked expression of a man who's been rudely treated. She notices long strips of white streaked with bright red under his shirt. As she gets closer, she recognizes them as blood-streaked bandages.

He flinches as she approaches, mumbling incoherently. He bats at her hands feebly as she pushes his shirt aside to examine his chest. "He needs Simon" she thinks

Inara rocks back on her heels and looks around. To her right, she spots Kaylee bending over a semi-concious Simon near the med-bed in the infirmary. Simon is pale, and she sees a smear of blood on the floor near his head.

Inara glares down at Damon's face, his eyes slowly regaining focus.

INARA: Did you do this to him?! Why would you attack the doctor? He's the only one that can help you!

Inara pushes to her feet, using a hand on Damon's chest as leverage. She hears the man grunt as she puts weight on his injured chest.

She enters the infirmary...but as she does, she notices the cryo-box just inside the door is open, the lid thrown back like some child's discarded toy box.

Pressing the callbutton on the intercom with one delicately polished nail, Inara speaks.

INARA: Mal--things are getting a little odd down here in the infirmary. Simon's been attacked, Damon's down, I'm not sure if he had anything to do with it....and why's River's cryo-box sitting open in the infirmary?"

while she waits for an answer, Inara grabs some gauze from the drawer to her left and hands it to Kaylee.

End Inara's turn

Damon's turn:
Location: downstairs common room

"I didn't do anything!"
Damon tries to sit up again, but again is unable.
"I'm not staying here... you can't keep me here forever."

Damon pulls his arms up to cover his face and groans. "No... lao tyen, boo..."

Translations:

lao tyen, boo = oh, god, no

Jayne's Turn:

Carrying an armload of guns, freshly cleaned with the care most parents bestow upon their children, Jayne enters the common room. Noticing the chaos in sickbay, Jayne sees the empty Cryo-box.

"Gorram it! Where in the ruttin hell is that snake Niska. Please tell me the bastards swimmin' outside..."

I must have not made it clear in my post that the cyrobox was strapped closed and locked. Unless Kaylee opned it.

Bugger ... I should never post while 3/4 asleep! (this post included)

Isn't the Serenity still grounded (by Wash) on Hera (?), just oustside town?

LOCATION-INFIRMARY
Just after KAYLEE has picked the infirmary lock, and is tending to Simon

SIMON looks up at KAYLEE a dazed expression on his face. He holds on to her and tries to get up. But to no avail, KAYLEE gently pushes him back down.

KAYLEE cleans his cut while murmuring comforting words. SIMON does not notice the open and empty cyrobox behind KAYLEE.

You FINALLY have an interaction with Simon, after what ... the teaser and 7.5 acts?!

Thorne's Move:

[THORNE walks with the others to the common room, Staying behind HELSING and ready if he starts trouble. Upon entering, he sees DAMON on the floor. INARA rushes to him, concerned. As she bends down she looks toward a sound to her left and her expression changes to one of anger.]

INARA: "Did you do this to him?! Why would you attack the doctor? He's the only one that can help you!"

[As she rises, ungently using the wounded DAMON as a support, the big mercenary shuffles in, loaded with ordinance. He walks past Thorne and looks into the infirmary.]

JAYNE:"Gorram it! Where in the ruttin hell is that snake Niska. Please tell me the bastards swimmin' outside..."

[At the mention of Niska's name, Thorne's eyes narrow.He steps forward and grabs JAYNE's shoulder.]

THORNE:"Niska? Adelai Niska? Please tell me that you have that sadistic son of a bitch on board. I'll pay whatever you ask for an hour...no, make that two hours, alone with the little slug. He and I have some old business to discuss. He owes me something and I'd love to collect. Just two hours and you can have him back...well, most of him, anyway.

[The anticipation in Thorne's eyes is not a pleasant sight to behold. He draws his tanto and tests the edge agains his thumb.]

Book's Move

Location: Common Area with River, Damon, Thorne, Jayne.... Inara and Simon are nearby in the infirmary.

Book scans the room quickly and his mind clicks. No Captain.

Book to Jayne

"He's loose. Check the weapons, quickly. Make sure none are missing and secure them."

Book to Helsing

"No one should be alone now. Go with Jayne. Any questions you need to ask River can wait for now."

Book across the room to Inara

"Inara, call to the bridge and make sure everything's ok up there... and put Wash on his guard."

Mal's move:

[MAL is heading back to the engine room to check on the repairs when he hears INARA on the intercom.]

INARA: "Mal--things are getting a little odd down here in the infirmary. Simon's been attacked, Damon's down, I'm not sure if he had anything to do with it....and why's River's cryo-box sitting open in the infirmary?"

[As he rushed down the aft stair he hears THORNE speak.]

THORNE:"Niska? Adelai Niska? Please tell me that you have that sadistic son of a bitch on board. I'll pay whatever you ask for an hour...no, make that two hours, alone with the little slug. He and I have some old business to discuss. He owes me something and I'd love to collect. Just two hours and you can have him back...well, most of him, anyway."

Then BOOK:He's loose. Check the weapons, quickly. Make sure none are missing and secure them. No one should be alone now. Go with Jayne. Any questions you need to ask River can wait for now."

[MAL sees JAYNE and HELSING leaving to secure weapons and nods them on. Pushing past THORNE, MAL looks into the infirmary to see SIMON on the floor with KAYLEE wiping blood from his brow, and INARA looking at the empty cryo-box.]

MAL:Juh hen sh guh kwai luh duh jean jan. [He walks to the intercom and thumbs the button] "Wash, Zoe, best get to the common area ma shong. Our fish ain't on ice anymore. An' bring that Roxanne girl with you. No one should be alone right now"

[Mal turns to THORNE, and growls...]

MAL:"Old man, if you can find that little liou mahng, you can have your two hours free. I just want him 'live enough to tell how he got out of cryo. But first, help me get that feller off the floor and into sick bay. INARA and KAYLEE'll stay and see to him and the Doc. Soon's the rest get here we'll pair up an' go huntin' Niskas."

[MAL gives the empty cryo-box a hard kick. It slides across the floor and hits the cabinets on the opposite wall with a clatter.]

Let me do a flashback scene and pick up Niska's escape from his POV.

Please don't 'find' him just yet, till I can catch Niska up to our current timeframe.

Damon's turn:
Location: common room with just about everybody

Damon hears feet moving and voices shouting around him, but none of it seems to make any sense. Everything is slurred and painful with the numb darkness of unconscieness pushing closer. He feels someone grab his arm and half drag him across the floor. Part of him knows that he's supposed to stay awake, keep fighting, but his strength, both mental and physical, had deserted him.

Quote:

"Bu huai le..." his words are barely audible as his eyes drift close. Surrendering to his exhaustion, he lets the bitter peace of unconsciencness take him.

Translations:
bu huai le = not broken

I'm not broken, in my dream I win...
