As Soul and Wisp wandered through the halls they heard an alarm ring out in the difference. Soul stopped in a moments thought to assess the situation, but Wisp didnt break his gate. His pace quickened as he marched to the sound, His weapon in his hand.

Soul followed him reluctantly wondering if this new Wisp would become a liability. The pair rounded several corners before finding the centre of the alarm. There were a few guards running round the corner opposite them but Wisp dispatched them before they had even spotted him.

He entered the room And looked around. Along one side was a window showing the room where they had been kept which was now empty. Opposite it was a desk with a man stood behind it. The man wore a suit with a crimson stripe on the shoulder.

Wisps rage returned in full force and he lifted the weapon and emptied a full mag in automatic. The bullets would have annihalated the man if Soul hadnt Knocked Wisps weapon up as his finger gripped the trigger.

"WISP ITS SAFE STOP!!!"

In the Epsilon, a small figure pads quietly across the deck and enters a tiny room. In one hand, it carries a cup. “Greetings, my pretties! And how are you this morning?”

On a shelf, the seven dirt-filled flower pots do not respond.

“Thirsty?” From the cup a portion of bright green viscous goo is poured into each pot. It is quickly absorbed into the dirt. “There, that should increase your growth rate by a factor of…”

Suddenly, a small sprout pushes its way out of the dirt in one pot. Then another. And another. Soon, each of the pots contains a plant. They all unfurl their leaves and sway back and forth. A tiny face can be discerned upon one young plant, blinking its eyes and looking about in confusion.

The figure smiles. “Oh, good! Much better! Here you go!” It flicks a switch, and the cramped room is bathed in bright light. “Eat! Grow! Become strong!”

The tiny plant people bend and strain to maneuver their leaves to catch all available light.

The blaring alarm startled Needy.

He found himself walking alone down the corridors, outside of his cell.

How he got out from the interrogation room was a question he had no answer to.

His memory was hazy, like he had woken up from a dream, and the harder he tried to remember, the further down the memory got pushed.

Unless this is all some twisted mind-game and in reality I’m sitting connected to a giant brain computer, it doesn’t matter. Forget how I got out! I just need to find the others. We all need to get out of here.

Needy’s clothes were clean and in good condition. If there was a physical struggle between him and the guards, there was no sign of one. From appearances, it looked as though he had just walked out of his cell.

“You there?” Needy asked

“Always”, the being replied.
“Good. Which way now? Where are my friends?”

As the being directed him to the location of the others, further back down the corridors, Robert Wu sat alone in silence… in shock.

Around him the walls were decorated in irony. The colour crimson splattered in patches, whilst below on the floor lay numerous bodies.

Robert Wu, the only survivor of the massacre he had just witnessed, could only remain still – as if his stationary position was all that was keeping him alive.
Even after the shadowy figure who had interrogated Needy was electrocuted; after the other guards that followed were slain in brutal fashion without so much as a touch; and after the one responsible had exited calmly and coolly, all Robert could do was remain, seated, glued to his seat. A look of absolute terror permanently etched on his face.

Switching off the cortex screen he'd been studying intently, the morgue attendant sighed, figuring he'd better get on with what they were barely paying him to do.

He surveyed the line of dull grey coffins shoved haphazardly into various corners of the room.

"Now, ladies and gentlemen, i'f you'd all like to form and orderly que, we can get down to the business of burning you all into little bitty peices."

In one corner of the room, a tap dripped once, breaking the otherwise total silence.

"Nevermind, i'll do it my self" Rounding up the boxs, he began to check through the labels. Most of them, were straight forward cremations - they'd be burnt, the families would come pick up the ashes, or not, what ever. But one had the yellow and black markings on it. Straight into isolation with that one. In the morning a specialist team would come and pick it up and destroy it thoroughly - so that whatever nasty it contained couldn't spread. The one after that presented a problem - the writing was smudged and blurred and not particularly clear to begin with... "well, if in doubt..." He pushed it after the other one, and left them both in isolation, punching in the signal code for the disposal team to come take them away.
The rest were all simple, and he set to work preparing them for their cremations.

***

In the cockpit of the specialist air ambulences, a light beckan to flash.

"Dammit! and there i thought that we we're going to get the day free tomorrow."

A female guard leaned over the screen, "Its the Halo, only 10, 20 minutes flighttime, we could pick up now, burn them tomorrow and spend the rest of the day mooching?"

Her companion Hicks turned and grinned at her "Oh i've got much better plans for tomorrow than mooching Jude, yep, we'll pick up now."

Jude smiled to herself and logged the details into their records.

Landing outside the facility proved more problematic than usual - the guy monitoring airspace seemed distracted, and it took way too long for him to open the doors between the morgue facilities and its loading bay.

Reaching the isolation room, she scanned the labels for each coffin and stared at the second.
After a while Hicks followed her through.

"Its one of Sykes's."

Hicks looked at her gravely. "You know what almost happened the last time we took part in one of his little smuggling escapades. Its not worth it just for his research"

"But he asked us"

"yeah, and i'm asking you not to. Too much of a risk"

She looked at him, unlike Hick's she knew what Sykes was trying to achieve in the facility - if he thought a corpse might give him enough information to expose what was happening, then she didn't want to fail him.

Hicks gave up.

"Load them up. Toxic boy in the back, little miss mystery, you know where."

Shortly after they took off, she turned to Hicks "You did remember to scramble the monitoring devices in that room didn't you?"

Hicks grinned "Nope, but i replaced their feed with my fabulous renditions of as many crude ditties as i could fit in."

"Remind me why i work with you again?"

"Because i have the voice of an angel"

Hearing the gunfire and running get closer, Safe slowly stands. He examines the gun in his hand for a moment and slowly places it on the desk, folds his hands behind his back and waits for his end.

Two figures burst through the door and Safe closes his eyes. The hail of expected gunfire instead of ending him, only showers him in plaster. Safe snaps his eyes open in surprise.

"WISP ITS SAFE STOP!!!"

“Soul?? Wisp?? But how…”

It was Souls turn to stare. Resignation and defeat were written all over the ex-soldier. His shoulders slumped and the steel in his eyes was gone. In fact, there was nothing in his eyes, just an uncharacteristic emptiness.

Worried where this new development was headed, Soul crosses the room quickly grabbing the front of Safe’s coat and slamming him against the wall of windows. “Snap out of it!! There are people relying on me and Wisp and even you, to get them out of here. I won’t let this road you are on, interfere with that. The blood will be on your hands… again.”

Soul lets the last bit sink in. He watches as the clouds clear from Safe’s eyes and they narrow in suspicion.

“Yes… I know your history. I can’t rightly tell you why, but I do.” Soul says softly, releasing Safe. “But that’s a story for another time; right now we have work to do.”

THAT was greusomely hilarious!!

OOC: I\'m undead, I\'ll give it a shot

Earlier:

Kyra sat alone at the bar, taking drags from a cigarette with one hand, whilst the other held on tight to her glass of beer.
She rarely drank, and had never smoked.
She only drank alcohol at parties and the like, something used in celebrations. And as for cigarettes - well, she was not naive. She knew they would kill you, but had grown to like the smell as she breathed in second-hand smoke. Now tonight, after some random drunk offered to buy her a drink, she accepted and followed it up with taking the cigarette from his mouth and beginning to smoke it.

She knew it was stupid but at this point now she couldn\'t care less either way. It had been one of the worse days of her life. Worse than when her husband left. Worse than the day she ruined the life of the man she loved. Worse than anything else she could remember.
After a long search, she learnt that the man she was looking for was dead, and had been for weeks. She found that the man who worked with him had not only been unjustly imprisoned, but had later been kidnapped, presumably by members of the Resistance for their own insidious means. And she knew it was very likely that she was out of her job too.
She had no one left. Her family were long gone. Her friends, what few she had, she had driven away.
Now all she had was a death-stick, a drink of despair, and a lethal weapon hidden in her inside jacket pocket

How did it come to this?
She knew the answer... it was all because of one stupid decision she had made months ago. One lie, albeit a big one.
If I had just been upfront, none of this would have happened.
He would still be alive. My career might have been on a downer, sure, but I would have been the happiest woman alive.
One stupid mistake... thats all it takes to ruin everything.
Its amazing how one decision can influence multiple events.
One decision... one person... could change the Verse.
For better or for worse.

Earlier:

The mule pulled up into a small alley beside a block of buildings at Thordom Business Park
Even though the inclusion of the word park would make the area seem pretty, the truth was something far different. This part of the city was quite plainly a series of rows of old three-story buildings, used by various businesses - mostly the types of businesses that go under a year after being setup.

The design structure of the buildings were simple and boring - without a hint of any modernisation to make them look more appealing.
Then again, it was the work that went on in the buildings that counted, the ideas and inventions that were thought up by various minds.
Any money made went towards producing product, not glamourising the workplace.

It seems that the more important not to mention illegal work though was being done in the midst of it all.

At least one of the buildings was a base of operations for The Resistance - an underground movement that worked against the totalitarian regime of The Alliance.

Its purpose - to destabilise their rule and make sure that justice was being done.

Milton hopped off the mule as he followed his rescuers to what was presumably their current home.

Their leader, Jack, was the first to reach the main entrance and wasted no time in swiping his card through the security control, typing in a 4-digit passcode and opening the door.
Milton kicked himself when he missed which four digits were entered. No doubt he might need to know it in the future, if he is to succeed in causing the downfall of the organisation.

He followed the man and his two female colleagues, Flechette and Versa, through the main entrance, where he was confronted with a rather odd sight.
Inside the building, he didnt see stacked boxes containing stolen military weapons or various blueprints of government buildings watched over by bearded thugs and unsavoury characters - what he had assumed to see in a terrorist run organisation - but in fact a clean, sparsely occupied room where the centre piece was a large counter behind which sat a male receptionist. Above the counter, written in large letters on the wall, was the name of the so-called business:

CHUNG INDUSTRIES
