Happy birthday, Trek. Watching reruns of the original series as a kid helped nurture my taste for sci-fi. Watching Next Gen the first time around made it blossom and grow

I usually consider the animated series to be part of TOS --same characters, same ship, same general environment. The animated ones just had better effects and nonhumanoid aliens (like Arex).

aha! so as i scroll the forums I find you have returned from your exile. where and when are you seeing trek? firefly and trek follow a similar patter, both had a pilot that was rejected by the studio with requests for a second with alterations. both began in dath slots, and sufered bad ratings according to (in treks case)polls that were later proven in error, a miraculous amount of fan support brough trek its third season adn firefly its movie, and firefly has time to simmer, trek made it through about a decade of inactivity, living off of conventions and a cartoon alone. firefly could pull through
May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one, so I joined starfleet and was stationed at the SGC to fight the covenant, whos gate happens to be down, and through which I must cast the ring from whence it came. It was our last best hope for peace but it failed so millions of voices cried out and were suddenly silent but there was no spoon and also no fate but what we make for ourselves.

Can you identify the parts and where they are from. I have everything before the last best hope for peace bit and i don't know the covenant part either. Sorry, but it sounds familiar, and i just think it is awesome.

Still not convinced it was the wrong one(Firefly, who could've guessed?), so I joined starfleet(startrek) and was stationed at the SGC(star gate command from SG-1) to fight the covenant(Halo trilogy, the video games), whos gate happens to be down(Enders game), and through which I must cast the ring from whence it came(LOTR). It was our last best hope for peace but it failed(Babylon 5, a groundbraking escellent saga that no one seems to remember, but I grew up watching) so millions of voices cried out and were suddenly silent(star wars) but there was no spoon(the matrix) and also no fate but what we make for ourselves.(terminator 2)
