I'm a new fan of the firefly series, i got the itch when i recently watched the movie. And i have a few questions i would like to ask the Hardcore fans.
1. Does any one know why Joss won't give up the secrets behind the sheperd and inara and the such since it seems the series died a to early death.
2. Why did this series die a to early death? It seems to me to have a huge following maybe not equal to something like Lord of the Rings but closely following, So it makes me wonder why another channel hasn't picked it up in all the ways i look at it its a no risk movie it has a built in audience and more people would catch on (i mean how many seasons has stargate been on and that is horrible acting and plots)
3. This is more a musing then a question, Is it at all possible that Joss is the reason why the series doesn't continue, maybe he doesn't want to write any more firefly scripts? but that doesn't answer why he won't answer the questions we all have if he had no hope for the rest of the show to air.

1. Because there's more coming from the 'verse, Comics and books, and there's always the hope of a new movie.
2. Because Fox didn't want it, and didn't give it a chance to build its following before killing it.
3. He fought long and hard for Firefly, and still hasn't given up four years later, so no.

Well I hope that we will get the answers, Just finished the fourth dvd and it was honestly one of the best show i have seen in a very long time.

I see Citizen has already answered the questions you had, so I just thought I'd welcome you to our little corner of the internet 'verse.
Nobody has given up hope for more FF and as a matter of fact, we're trying to let the powers that be that we're getting more fans every day and we want more. Go take a wander on over to both the 'Browncoat Events' and the 'Firefly and Serenity Guerilla Marketing' discussion sections.
I'm sure more folks will be by to say 'hi' as well.

Hi Keegan and welcome to the 'verse!
1. Beacause Joss is a mean mean man. As much as I love him for Firefly and Serenity he did kill Wash and Book.
2. The Fox executives doomed the show from the start. There are several reasons (not airing the pilot first, airing the show at strange times) but I will state my simple conclusion, they are gorramn morons.
3. Joss didn't write all of the Firefly scripts he had plenty of help from Tim Minear and the like but I know that Joss has stated his ongoing love for Firefly and Serenity. If there is any chance to do more I'm sure he'll take it. Personally I think another movie is more likely than the series being resurected but I hope for both.
BTW, I think Stargate is perfectly awful too.

Welcome to your new home - I notice that you mentioned watching all 4 discs of the series, 'Firefly', but have you seen 'Serenity' - some of the answers about River are in the BDM (Big Damn Movie)...
Also there is a thread here 'The Order of Things' I think that gives you some great ideas for fuelling your addiction... I mean passion for Firefly/Serenity...
