Zimmer is one of my favorites. Foreget that, Zimmer is my favorite, but I also like most of the people he works with. That is Klaus Badelt, and Lisa Gerard mostly. I really love Zimmer's score of Pirates 2. The Kraken theme is likely my favorite piece of score ever. I love all of his Africa type scores also, Tears of the Sun, Black Hawk Down... so good.
I really love Lisa Gerard's Whale Rider score, very nice and soft and emotional.
I like Vangelis also. Alexander was probably his best score (bad movie though) followed by Blade Runner.
I am also a traditionalist and I really enjoy Williams. I mean, the guys the bomb. Star Wars, Superman, Jurassic Park, Memiors of a Geisha. All wonderful scores.
Let me just say the I collect movie scores. I have, well, scores of them. I have more score CDs than band CDs. I see a movie and then I must get the soundtrack.
Right now I'm listening to the soundtrack to Princess Mononoke. It's wonderful.

I felt Klaus dropped the ball a little for Poseidon, although maybe the score was badly mixed or something...

I absolutely love this soundtrack, along with Graeme Revell's music for SciFi's Dune. I especially love the song he wrote, Inama Nushif. So shiny!
I think most of my other favorites have been spoken for (Williams, Horner, Goldsmith, Vangelis). I do also love what Christopher Franke wrote for Babylon 5.

When I saw Gladiator, at one point I thought "ooh, they've used a bit of Gorecki's Symphony no. 3"... no mention of it in the credits though. Someone needs to slap Hans Zimmer's wrists. On the soundtrack, it's titled "Am I not Merciful?".

Didn't know we were supposed to be picking the top one, just ones that touched us, but thinking about it, yeah, it's definately a contender for my top spot.
However, I don't associate the score with the movie anymore, it hear it as something completely seperate. I saw the movie when it came out and once again since buying it on DVD a few months ago, but have listened to the score many, many times since I bought it not long after it was released. As such, watching the movie actually lessens the emotion of the music for me now.
