Got this from another Firefly group that I'm a member of.

It's a post by Joss at

http://whedonesque.com/?comments=11198#138754

He's updating "Wondy Gal" and Goners and then comes one of his usual cryptic sayings:

Some other little irons in the fire, when they're hot I'll pull 'em out and brand you. Keep the faith, spread the love, take the red pill, smell the coffee, fight the power, do the hustle, mow the lawn, eat the rich, Mott the Hoople, kick the can, bag the toads and If They Move, Kill 'Em. xoxo -j.

I can only speculate but it gives me hope that something Firefly/Serenity is in the works somewhere.

All I can say is "Hold, Hold until I get back."-Mal BDM

I needed to bump this because it really gives me a good feeling that something is in the works.

I saw it too.. and I've asked a friend at an advertising firm to ask F*x AND Sci-fi about "A possible Firefly return" (Their firm handles advertising for several large companies)

Sci-fi gave him the usual song and dance about F*X owning the rights, but that they were showing the Series in the UK if he wanted to put advertising there...

F*X gave him the standard "there's been a lot of questions about it returning, but the cast is tied up with other obligations "at the moment"" (Which wasn't a "NO")...

Hey, cling to what hope we can, and make the road in front of Joss as smooth as possible in case he DOES decide to give us more.

Remember that MANY shows failed initially (Tremors has a cult following, and they now ONLY release Tremors movies directly to DVD, but they DO make them) but have been resurrected in some form or another.

Tremors does it by using the "DVD only" format using investors that are "Longer term investors"..

Most companies want to make their money (and interest) FAST, like in the first opening weeks... but there are other companies are out there that don't mind getting their money (and interest) a bit slower in return (Over a period of months).

Facts are, Firefly and Serenity are STILL making money with DVD sales, Other Channels renting them to show, and merchandising.

ALL of the Firefly/Serenity material has made it into the black eventually, and then everything from that point on is profit... And there ARE companies out there that will take a "Sure thing" when it pays for itself, even if it takes "Longer than usual" to pay dividends.

Why do you think F*x is holding on to the rights? It's still making them money! Slowly, true, But SURELY and steadily... and ANYTHING that makes money has someone eyeing it to make THEM money.

I invest... If *I* see a company forming to give FireFly another shot (in ANY format), I'll put money in it, Cult followings of this size are sure things in the long run (Providing the show isn't totally hosed by new actors playing old roles, or trying to take the show in a different direction..).. Hey, I wish *I* had stock in the Rocky Horror Picture show, and I've never even seen it, but it's still being shown SOMEWHERE all the time.. those dollars coming in from every showing are going into someone's pocket.

F*x admits THEY screwed up... I can only believe they are letting the show "simmer" to build support for a future return done CORRECTLY.

I'll bump it too...
I LOVE it when Joss posts at Whedonesque to tell us what he is up to:

Quote:

Just wanted to drop in and say "Thank God we got rid of Marts." An evil, petty man with an enormous hookah and a smelly, writhing bag of toads. He's the worst thing to happen to the X-men since, well, me.

Truth be typed, Mike has been a great editor and a sweetheart of a guy. Marvel's loss is D.C.'s gain, and affects Oni press in no way. Mike helped me do a hell of a lot of catching up on the X-verse, was always patient with a)my confusion and b)me. A gent. Now I read some folk bashin' 'cause of X-continuity issues but that is not Mike's fault. It's not even mine. X-continuity is a statistical impossibility. Too many books, too many schedules, too many cross-overs -- that's why my stuff tends to take place all in one day or way out of town. Mike couldn't tell you if my stories come exactly before or after certain things and neither could I. So let that lie. I'm just gonna miss a cool colleague.

(Bag of toads? Hell was that about?)

And since I haven't posted (anything real) in some time let me bring y'all up to speed. The Brothers Warner HAVE read Wondy Gal, and are arranging a meeting to tell me that it is a perfect crystalline gem and I must not change a word, nay, not a syllable. I'm certain that's how it will go. I'm pounding away on X-men #18 and Buffy #2 and having a blast. Like a "close the blast doors" sized blast, especialy after I saw my first page of Georges Jeanty's Buffy art. That cute little sketch on his website? No, no, silly british man. The real thing is SO deeply cherry. It makes the fun I'm having revisiting these characters increase tenfold. For you Goners folk out there, just know I'm fine-tuning the script, feeling increasingly passionate about it, and I'm anxious to start dribbling out cryptic, frustrating hints. Soon.

Some other little irons in the fire, when they're hot I'll pull 'em out and brand you. Keep the faith, spread the love, take the red pill, smell the coffee, fight the power, do the hustle, mow the lawn, eat the rich, Mott the Hoople, kick the can, bag the toads and If They Move, Kill 'Em. xoxo -j.

I think speculating might be a tiny bit premature but yes it is a good sign as far as it goes. Which isn't particularly far but every journey... as they say.

Now on to the check list,

Keep the faith? Check.

Spread the love? Check!

Take the red pill? Check.

Smell the coffee? Ummm arabica, check.

Fight the power? Does ConEd count? If so, check.

Do the hustle? Can I do the hippy shake instead? No? Alright, hustle done. Check.

Mow the lawn? The service comes by every monday So either check for this week or in process for next week. Hell let's just call it a check.

Eat the rich? I just had a stack of pancakes with absolutely gobs of butter. Rich enough for my blood. Check.

Mott the Hoople?

All the young dudes
Carry the news
Boogaloo dudes
Carry the news

Check!

kick the can? Check.

Bag the toads? Check.

If They Move, Kill 'Em. Check.

Well it looks like I've done my part.

David

It gives us hope. And hope is a dangerous thing to lose, so Joss, GIVE US ANOTHER BDS! XD

Hi Embers,
I'm new to the Browncoats. What does it mean when people say they will "bump" it? Inquiring minds want to know. Have a shiny day! Elaine

Please! Nobody died last time!
