Do you remember the first time you saw firefly? I remember seeing the trailers, and the voice over dude is introducing the crew and he says, "the piolet" and wash is on and he goes, "Who's flying this thing? Oh right, that would be me." That just sucked me in.
So i saw train job, (and i really thought i was missing something because river didn't come poping out of the box...), and i fell in love, and i watched semi-dedicatedly (meaning i watched as much as i can, but i didn't tape it if i was going to miss an episode or anything). Then it got canceled and that wasn't cool, but i didn't much think about it until my dad bought the DVD's for me for christmas.

I was sick over christmas and our house was full of people but i locked myself in my room, and spent two days watching every episode. The show was so much more amazing to me unbroken by comercials and being able to see them all in order right after each other. I just got this warm fuzzy feeling, and this incredible anger at fox. I love this show..keep it flying!

I had heard that Joss was doing a new space western series. I had just come of of watching Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, and Trigun, so I was looking forward to a live action space western. Then I saw a promo for it and none other than Nathan Fillion was gonna be the captain. I was hooked. He was my favorite character from 2 guys and a girl. I was angry when the show was cancelled. But then Mal shows up on Buffy and that helped a little.

Yup. September 20th, 2002. Sat down and watched The Train Job. I was totally snared when the "Darn-Kick-Foom" scene happened. Didn't miss a single ep.

Well, I live in Denmark, so I hadn't heard a peep about Firefly (haven't been following his other shows; Buffy put me off with the teeny storylines and ghastly monster costumes when I first saw it, Angel being a Buffy spinoff got the same treatment from me). One day on the Trekweb.com BBS a regular poster raved on about a show called Firefly and the latest episode, called "Our Mrs. Reynolds". The show sounded interesting, with rich, developing characters, snappy dialogue, and an interesting premise.
So I turned on my trusty old WinMX and began looking for Firefly and found a couple of episodes, among them the pilot Serenity. I downloaded the pilot to check it out and was at first extremely disappointed. It looked like it had been filmed with a videocam in a small showroom (and propably was). I didn't know that this was the original unaired pilot, so I was tempted to just turn it off. Am I glad I didn't! There are propably not that many people who were able to see the real pilot episode first before the DVD set was released, and thus being able to get what the hell was going on in the first few episodes.
I wasn't really following what was going on with Firefly at that time. Being the great show it was, I just assumed I'd be able to download my new episodes every couple of weeks until it someday would come out here like Buffy and Angel before it. Man was I disappointed when I heard the show had been cancelled.
Good thing I got the DVD sets to carry me over until the show comes back. I'm sure it will.
Just looking at the Amazon sales rank shows taht this thing is HOT.

I saw the first episode "The Train Job" when it first aired. A former Buffy fan, I just had to see what else was in the imagination of JW. I liked it, but really wasn't too impressed. My sister, who I had told to watch it too, was like "okay..." But I tuned in as much as I could, and we were both loving it by the time it was cancelled.

I was in shock when I first heard the theme song. To this day, I will tolerate it if I'm in the right mood.

I remember seeing the promos on Fox during the summer and found myself drooling from what little I'd seen. I was there since the first ep was broadcast. I admit to being quite distressed at the first couple of scenes but found myself being drawn in quite well by mid-show :) Through the many pre-empts, I found myself coming to despise sports of all kinds and even came to wonder if I was watching the same Fox network that gave us shows like The Simpsons and The X-Files or if I was watching just another major broadcast network.

If you can survive death, you can probably survive almost anything.

You know what? I don't remember what the first episode I saw was. I have a hunch it might have been War Stories, because that is one of Succatash's favorites and he was trying to get me hooked on the show... so he prolly showed me that one first.
It sucks actually that I can't remmeber. I wish that I had seen them in chronological order.
I do remember the first time I heard the word Firefly associated with a TV show though. I was at home and Succatash called me to try to get me interested in watching the show. He was like "it's so cool. It's a western... in space, but so much better than just that. Oh dude!" Or something to that effect.
Unfortunately, we had a miscommunication about the channel that it was on or the time or something ridiculous like that, and I ended up watching a show called birds of prey. I thought to myself, this isn't a space western. This is a wierd batgirl spinoff. I watched birds of prey for the first segment, then turned it off thinking firefly's wierd.
So, I never saw it. I missed the only U.S. run of Firefly due to a technicality.

I saw the first aired episode or the Train Job when it first aired here in America Fall of 2002.

I saw a segment on the FOX Report with Shepard Smith about Firefly and at the time caught my eye and I thought it looked good. But the real reason why I watched it was because I was waiting for John Doe to come on and nothing else was on tv so I watched Firefly. From that point I was hooked but when it was canceled in December I thought that was the last I would hear of it. Lo and behold, I was really bored one night last November and came across this site and saw that they were releasing Firefly on DVD. I immediately preordered my copy and here I am now awaiting news of the movie.

By the time I got to see even word one of Firefly, it was already "resting" (not dead just...). I read about it, and having watched Buffy and Angel figured there was a chance it might be passable.

Read a number of reviews, but did my level best to avoid spoilers on the basis that I assumed the DVD would come out or it might be bought by a UK channel. In the end, I picked up a copy when I was over in the States, brought it back and watched the episodes over a period of two or three days, then rewatched those with commentary.

Now I find myself stumbling back into fandom in a way that I haven't been since the end of B5. Shame that there isn't really anything out there to transfer my interest to (Dead Like Me intrigues me, whenever that might make the TV here).

I am lucky enough to have the coolest boss in the entire world. Over the course of the past 4 years, he's gotten me hooked on many things, including Buffy and Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan novels.

He also handed me, at the end of last school year, a taped copy of 'Serenity.' I'd heard about Firefly here and there, being a fan of Buffy and Angel, but I'd never seen it. On the first watch, I loved it. I wasn't addicted, persay, but I really enjoyed it, though it had a lot of potential. So I started downloading. I went home for the summer and forgot that I'd downloaded anything. So there they sat, the first 3 or 4 episodes, on my harddrive, just waiting for the day I was bored.

That day came in September, when I came back to school.. and I watched them all, despite trying to ration myself. I found myself with a Firefly lack, and no DSL, and no way to get the rest of the episodes. It was a painful experience, and the instant that I was hooked up with DSL again, in late October, I promptly downloaded, watched, fell in love.

Now my pretty DVDs are being used to hook others, likewise. ;) Firefly just gets better every time I watch it.
