tain't anything foolish about taking a stand - one of the best things anyone can do, I might be wrong about it being a hoax - but seeing as the link posted to the press release doesn't work for me anymore, I'm guessing it's gone.

Be 100% sure when someone from Sci Fi posts in the Sci Fi BB though...........

We would need the equipment, we would need broadcasting rights of the shows and movies of our choice. We would have to foot alot of the bill until we could prove to advertisers that the "nerd" demographic has quality money to spend on their products.

I would want it to be non-profit tho. Not out to make money - out to broadcast quality tv!

Son of a bitch. I never thought the sci-fi channel would stoop so low. They have now fallen to the dark side. The have joined the ranks of such horrors as FUX.

Dinalt, you may be right about this being a hoax, this was briefly on Whedonesque, but it's pulled now.

My guess is it's a hoax. I just saw a press release the other day on SyFyPortal saying that SciFi had bought the rights to show Star Trek: Enterprise. So.. I think their scifi nerd programming will still be intact. Thank goodness, since I'm a scifi nerd demographic member and damn proud of it!

The uproar if they go all wrestling would be too big I think, although they are sure testing the waters so to speak to see how many viewers wrestling can bring in. I might get flamed for saying this and it's not because I hate wrestling, I'm just not a fan. But I hadn't noticed the wrestling demographic and the scifi demographic being linked before. Seems a bit at odds to me.

WTF?!?

"Nerd" demographic?!?

What the special hell does Sci Fi think kept their collective asses afloat as long as they have been but the same demographic they are now turning their back on.

All those offended by this, should be. What about sci fi programming? I guess they will turn their back on that too? They might keep BSG because it brings in the ratings, but what of other shows & movies?

Merciful Buddha what is television coming to?

Okay, so it looks like I may have been taken in. I apologized to yall. Enough legit stuff I have seen thru prweb (especially true stuff about old employers) I didn't realize anyone could post.

Heh, I came here because of the obvious love of SciFi as well as the strength of the browncoats I have seen in grass-roots campaigns.

Usually I'm better at spotting spoofs. The 'nerds' demographic should have been a major tip off. Guess it just sounded true because of all the ECW commericals.

Don't remeber if someone else posted this :
