Yeah I thought that was a Firefly crack, although poorly done. The truth is SG-1 is a candle that simply burned itself out.
While some think the same would have happened to firefly, as a browncoat I think Firefly could have lasted at least 7 seasons with the level of story telling intact as long as joss was at the wheel.
It is wishful thinking to believe that Sci-fi just might give Joss a call, and give Firefly a second chance because of the ongoing (saleability?) profitability of the series.
I can't help just hoping against hope that this will happen. Of course it means joss would have to juggle wonderwoman and firefly, but he's juggled two things at once before. Lets all write and keep our fingers crossed.

Heck, Joss created and produced Firefly with two other prime time series on the go.
I think the quip about DVD sales was a nod of the head, not an insult, to its Sci-Fi stablemate. The rumours are that we haven't seen the end of the SG-1 team yet - big screen movie anyone?
And what is it with Morena? She joins a show and boom, it gets cancelled. Just proves you're never too pretty to die... er, or have your show die under you.

Well, as much as I hate to see SG1 cancelled, I think many of us SG fans knew we were on borrowed time. The show is in it's 10th season which is all but unheard of in the television industry.
With Richard Dean Anderson leaving it just didn't feel the same. Ben Browder was a good fit for the show, as was Claudia Black, but it just didn't have that spark the old SG1 did in earlier seasons.
Still, it has had a good run. Glad I get to meet Christopher Judge at Dragon Con this year.

As much as I'd like to see Firefly come back, I think Sci-Fi is making some financial room for Caprica (the Battlestar spinoff). They couldn't afford to produce another full blown series on top of what they already have. I have my fingers crossed for Firefly though. That would just be the best news ever.

"Caprica"??? I have not heard they were considering a BSG spinoff. Is that a done deal? Any links to news on it?

I agree. I love SG-1, but felt heading into the 10th season I may be watching them move towards the end.
215 episodes ain't shabby.

For a science fiction show, 215 episodes is amazing.
On a personal note, I miss Richard Dean Anderson.
And on a financial note, after buying season 9 on dvd, I'll only have to shell out for one more season.

The Stargate Program isn't finished, not by a long shot. Even if we have to beam the programs into space in the hopes that aliens will invade and demand more (hey, the Asgard have saved our butts before. . .).
Frankly, I see no cause for any bad feelings between Gaters and Browncoats. Different animals, and I see no reason why we can't want both to be successful. Personally, I'll be jumping on the "Save SG-1" bandwagon just as I did the Immediate Assistance bandwagon.
. . . And the Save Farscape bandwagon, and we all saw how effective that was. Maybe I'm the one jinxing this.
What is it with us and battles we've already lost? Can't we win just once?
Also, I sincerely hope this'll compell Space to get off their pi-gu and BRING US SEASON 2 OF ATLANTIS!!!

I have to say, finding out about this at the beginning of my day has allowed the clouds to form overhead =( Even though I work at a computer store, there aren't enough SciFi fans to share my angst with.
Unfortunately, this means that they will either rush a resolution to the Ori threat, or leave a whopping cliffhanger with the hopes and dreams of a motion picture to provide a resolution.
This does, however, answer a nagging question I had ever since the 200th episode where at the end they were talking about renewed talks about the "Wormhole Extreme" movie. At the very least they are probably in talks. Kudos to the writers and producers for giving that much away to their fans.
