idea for mal's pistol

hey guys! its my first post on the boards, and i wasn't sure if this was where to put this, but here it is anyway. i've been toying with different ideas for turning a resin cast of mal's pistol into a working gun or an airsoft gun at the least, and read up on the whole taurus revolver thing fitting into the gun. but i was wondering-is it possible to fit the internal parts from a mauser broomhandle into the cast? for those who don't know, a mauser broomhandle is a pistol that is loaded by pressing rounds down into a chamber in front of the trigger, exactly where the clip would be on mal's gun. either that, or some other pistol that uses a front-mounted clip (there are others, they just aren't coming to mind). i'm considering doing this with a cheap airsoft gun first, and see if it can be done. the cast that i am using is made by wilco models, and i believe it is a solid cast, with the grips being separate. any idea how one goes about cracking it open? at the very least, i want a darn working trigger on this thing.

*edit: a mauser broomhandle is han solo's gun.

Mal's pistol is built around a revolver, with bits added. There's a thread here talking about producing a working replica:

i kno it's built around a revolver, but the only conceivable way that i can see where you can load rounds with a clip is using a gun like the mauser/han solo's gun. otherwise, you would have to take off the panels every time you wanted to reload.

A mauser isn't going to work because it's completly the wrong shape. I doubt you could actually mod a front loading cartridge pistol, not without pretty much building the whole thing yourself.

If it were me...
I'd try addacking any visible seams first, see if there is a flaw in the mold. There probably isn't, but if there is, it's an easy job.
Next up:
Measure the width of the barrel and butt. These measurements will be needed later.
Make a jig that will hold the model and support it as much as possible (long of the barrel to the table, butt of the handle skyward) so that it won't get all wiggledy. This is the hard part (of splitting the model).
Center it up & pass the jig and model through a band saw that has a small kerf (the section of material that the saw blade turned to dust) blade (1/16" or so should be fine). Any kerf will work, but the wider it is, the more detail you loose.
It'd take a bit of playing with to get the jig tension right (too loose is wiggly, too tight binds the blade (burning resin, carbon scoring, seized motor, popped breakers, snapped blade, blood spills, screaming, cursing, docs, drugs, bandages...), so having other samples of the material would be handy.
Scoop out such guts as needed, reassemble, fill in the kerf with epoxy to original width, sand smooth, a bit of paint...

For those who don't have heavy equipment like that in their garage/basement, an alternamtive is to take it to a machine shop and explain to them what you want.
Don't bother telling them /how/ to do it. Just what you want the end result to be. It'll cost you a bit of coin (unsure how much, but would expect less than $50), but buying a bandsaw will set you back several hundred.
