Hihi,
Forgive me if this has come up before, even though I've browsed around on this site before, I've never checked out the forums, and I didn't see anything recently.
This website: http://www.fireflyseason2.com/Index.asp claims to be run by people who are pursuing the rights to produce a second season of Firefly. Has anyone heard of this? I'm naturally suspicious so I thought I'd check around about it.

yep. ive heard of them. i think they are basically trying to get a direct to dvd season 2 instead of having a network purchase the rights etc etc
this was just mentioned like a day or two ago but oh well

Only been mentioned about 100 times so far, but that's okay, cause not everyone's been around here as long as some. That site is well over a year old by now, and it was created by a guy named Ace Underhill, but I would be willing to bet all of my Firefly/Serenity merchandise that nothing will ever come of it. If we are to get anything more from the verse it will come from Joss, not a third party.
And even if it did come from somebody other than Joss, I wouldn't be interested.

I think the guy's for real, and is genuinely trying to get Firefly off the ground again, but I can understand the skepticism surrounding the issue. As for Joss's involvement, I will reply with a quote from Ace Underhill:
Quote:
"If he (Joss) contacts me and says, 'Hey, we're not interested in Firefly anymore' or 'I'm not interested in Firefly anymore,' then I will abandon the project, and essentially it's over at that point. I'm not looking to create a cheap knockoff of the series without Joss' input. So that's not going to happen. ... If he's not going to be involved, then there is no project. There's no point."
But I'm afraid it probably won't happen.

Your suspicions are/were shared by many. This is one of multiple threads at serenitymovie.org where Ace Underhill hashed it out with wary browncoats:

Whether or not he's legit is up to each to decide for themselves.
Also know, the topic of discussion was banned from that site not long thereafter, as it turned out to be quite disruptive to the board.
