I was watching this episode on TNT this morning and I noticed a couple of amusing things. Nothing terribly important, but just interesting.
1. On the "stock ticker" behind DeMarco when he finds out that Angel is a vampire with a soul, the words "2006 NBA MVP" scroll across. Steve Nash visited the Tropicana and almost had his destiny sold on the black market!
2.

Does the fact that Angel's destiny that was imprinted on the poker chip said he was "positioned to be a major player in the Apocalypse" suggest that Angel, not Spike, is the true recipient of the Shanshu?

This, of course, is what Angel signs away in the series finale in season 5

Up until Season Five, Angel was the only one who qualified for the prophecy, so by default the destiny was his. But Spike's return--now a champion after his selfless sacrifice--suddenly meant that their were two potential candidates and that threw the universe out of whack. That's why all the evidence in the early seasons points to Angel--he was the only qualified candidate at the time. But all that changes in season five. What he signs away at the end of the series is his claim to the prophecy--which would make Spike the only qualified candidate. But of course it's an open debate as to whether it's even possible to sign away your destiny.

An excellent point. I forgot about that.

Though as Sebassis tells Angel, signing the actual prophecy will cause the prophecy to be "undone". Perhaps that is not really changing one's destiny. Who knows, though.
All just made up fantasy on a TV show anyway.

Huh? What? What are you trying to say ?
People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss
" They don't like it when you shoot at 'em. I worked that out myself. "

dirty low down blasphemer! How dare anyone suggest such a thing!
grrrr argh
edited to add: but actually I thought that Angel's destiny in tha regard was played out by having Fathered Conner and by defeating Gina Torres...
I didn't think that that destiny card necessarily had anything to do with the Shanshu prophesy
