Raising Hell or Hell on Wheels comes from the Old Western habit of the pre-fab buildings, particularly the bordellos, that were transported by railroad to the new cowtowns. They could be taken down quickly and moved elsewhere, depending on where the money was, or alternatively, where the puritanical neighbours were.

It wasn't just you, AnJL (don't think so, anyway). I have dial-up, too, and I tried to start new threads when mine got really slow, but maybe some dial up is worse that others. No biggie.
