According to IMDB.com,there is an unaired pilot for Angel. This is not the episode "City of..". Has anyone ever seen the unaired pilot? Is there any place one can view it?

Yes, I think I saw it some time ago (i.e. years ago). It's about five minutes long, more of an introduction to the series than an episode. It takes footage from Buffy, and adds Angel and Quinn talking about what Angel has been through, and what he plans to do in LA. I think I found it on a P2P network.
MAL "You only gotta scare him."
JAYNE "Pain is scary..."

I've seen it. It's just a short presentation that Joss did to show the network. I found a link through Wikipedia where you can view it at YouTube:

Thanks! I watched it this morning. Pretty cool. Too bad that was not put on any of the DVD sets.

Put your toe in the Whedonverse ( watching Firefly and falling in love! ) and soon you're attracted to the rest of his work too....
Thank you for this, I'm still watching Buffy and not into Angel yet, but that really made me want to see it!

There's actually a featurette on the S1 DVDs that mixes some of the footage from it with stuff from S1 eps. It's called "This is Angel", or something to that effect...

I always felt sorry for the people who would never give BUFFY or ANGEL a chance, whether their opinion was based on the movie, the title, or the ages of the characters, etc. Then I came here, thinking that OF COURSE, these people "got it". If they weren't fans of BUFFY or ANGEL before FIREFLY, surely that changed after FIREFLY.
Boy was I wrong!!! I couldn't believe how easily people ridiculed Joss's other shows, which I had connected with long ago, since Day 1. It's not as bad now as it was when I first came here though. Still, it was very disappointing.
Anyway, FollowMal, glad to know you've "seen the light"!

I think a lot of people stumble into the Whedonverse sideways, by accident.
I sure did.
I'd rented the Buffy movie back in '92 or '93, and the dialogue gave me a chuckle in a few spots but, by and large, I wasn't impressed, so I didn't pay any attention when the series came out.
I was carpooling with a guy in '98, and he started off the drive one day with, "Well, I'm now totally addicted to Buffy."
I chuckled nervously and said, "You're kidding, right? You mean that show they made out of that cheesy horror movie?"
He shook his head at me with that "You have no idea" expression, "Dude. No. The show is a dozen times better! Y'see..." And then he told me all about Joss and his struggles with the movie, how he'd had no control.
A few nights later, I channel-surfed into some show where a big ugly creature (The Judge) vaporizes somebody and an intriguing brunette (Drusilla) stamps her feet and gleefully shouts, "Do it again! Do it again!"
After watching a few more minutes, I figured out what it was, and my jaw was on the floor: "This is Buffy?"
We had a great conversation on the way to work the next day!
I've been a Whedonist ever since!
