For thems that can wait.

Would the online sellers be okay with it if we co-ordinated a date to pre-order and maybe get it noticed in the top sellers lists? How about Monday 2004-02-09? Other shops should have it by then.

I'm guessing that most R2ers will be ordering it from amazon.co.uk, who has that there "Hot 100 DVD": If you see it's at #1, you wait for it to drop before you order yours, that way we stay on the list for a while and maybe increase interest?

Its a shame the UK has to wait 5 months for there own DVD. I live in the UK and my R1 copy arrived at the end of November. With internet ordering and multiregion DVD players so common place, is there any incentive to wait for R2 versions, when santa was happy to bring me it for christmas.

At last. I'll keep an eye on Amazon.co.uk and order it when it starts to drop down the list. But will I be able to wait that long.

Hi, Cobbhouse
cheers for the reply.
Excuse my ignorance but I live in the UK and only hve a UK compatable DVD. So, if I buy the R1 version I can't watch it, can I?
Only found out about Firefly over Christmas when the Sci-fi Channel did all 14 hours over two days.
Spent a lot of time glued to TV and turned into a UK browncoat there and then.
Would do almost anything to get series back on TV as its too special to be cancelled like that, despite the problems its caused in this home.

Picture the scene.
Cosy UK house. Family seated around TV. Christmas decorations glowing in the fire-light.

Child: Mum, what's a companion?
Mum: Urrrr, someone who talks to lonely people, dear!
Child: I think I want to be a companion when I grow up

Sorry to hear that your DVD player won't play R1 DVDs. i got mine over a year ago, and have been enjoying DVDs before they are released in the UK for ages. Alot of DVD players can be multiregioned with just a few key presses, and don't even need to be chipped these days. If they just released DVDs (but hey its fox) that played everywhere, it would save all this trouble. The no.1 DVD player at Amazon.co.uk is a multiregion player.
Imagine the scene, christmas day.
Child: whats that ?
Parent: Firefly !
Child: Shiney :)

Hi

I don't have a DVD player, but I use our PS2 to play DVD's. We got the Region 1 Firefly DVD when it first came out coz I just couldn't wait!

You can buy a multiregion converter disc (about £5) at places like HMV which works on the PS2 - it may also do on DVD players! Can't tell you much about it as I am at work, but will have a look tonight.

Shiney!

If you're like me, surfing at work is a bit of a no no.
However, by careful positioning of my desk so my monitor faces the wall I can get a sneaky peek at Fireflyfans.net when I get into work.
But of course, the rest of the time I'm a good girl!

Thanks
look forward to receiving your reply.

Us Browncoats are nothing if not resourceful - I too have only wall behind me :-)

Alas I am afraid that the disc I spoke of only works for the PS2, so looks like you may have to wait for the UK version.

I am also pleased to say I have now converted my husband into a fully fledged Browncoat! He no longer thinks that I am completely off my nut!
