Great job Arclight! Congratulations!

That is exactly what we need! More converts. The more the better. Everyone who gives a good gorram about this 'verse and wants to see it continued in some form needs to be out there as often as is possible telling the uninitiated about the show & the BDM. We need to be getting the DVDs into the hands of new people and introducing them to our 'verse. Fans have been the lifesblood of this show and if not for the fans we wouldn't have even got the BDM.

Now we're sitting here waiting for news. The news is we need to bring new people onboard and do all we can to help boost the sales of the BDM DVD. Wal Mart has "Serenity" in their DVD stands for $13.74. That is cheap. There is no reason why we can't convince people to give it a shot. For those of us without too many money concerns, Serenity will make the perfect gift. Heck, buy a couple of extra copies to keep for loaning out to potential converts so you can keep your own.

It's up to us browncoats. No one is going to help us. No cavalry coming over the hill. Just us. We're all that stands between our 'verse and it fading away.

So, what are you going to do about it?

I've been a Browncoat since March but my success at 'vertin' anyone was plum miserable. Till two weeks ago. A group of us went to Australia, (Sydney and Melbourne) for a singing tour. I'm part of my church's singing group and we were out there for two weeks. Anyways, back to the story. I brought the BDS and BDM with me and forgot that Austalia DVD players had a different format, (PAL)-(NTSC-US DVD format). So the first week I was in withdrawl.

While in Melbourne, the brother of a group member asked if I had any DVDs to watch. I handed him Disk 1. I had to watch so we sat down for a Serenity-pilot ep. He was hooked in 10 mins. After the episode, he wanted to see the next one, but we had to meet the group for dinner. So, we watched half of "Train Job" and finished disk 1 and half of disk 2 that night. That was Thursday the 13th. Mind you, the Group sings at night so we watched after the performance,( @ about 11:00 pm). By Sunday, he was ready for the BDM.

Sunday's session another group member joined us. I'll call him Mr. W. Mr. W was hooked by 15 mins. WHoo Hoo! 2 converts!! But wait, there's more. Monday afternoon, before Dinner, Browncoat Brother begs me for disk 1 again. Apparently he wants to watch the series again. Who can blame him. Well, his brother, Mr. J, just so happens to be in his room when we start it, so he decides to stay. About the time Mal finishes with Badger and is walking back to Serenity, another person comes in. We'll call him Mr. B. Mr. B exclaimes, " You're watching this again, 'Browncoat Brother'?" Mr. B grabs a chair and sit s down too.

Mr. B took longer to hook. In fact, at first it seemed he was quite critical about FF. One comment had me wantin' to Reaverize him...sorta. Everything minus the rapin'...and eating...I wanted to knock him on is back, ok! He said, " What!? There's no translation? No wonder this tanked!" But I realized later it was F#X's fault for doing a half-a## job for the subtitles. Anyway, Mr. B and BB continued to watch more FF on the flight back to the US, (San Francisco) and Mr. B borrowed the whole thing so he counld watch it. Even at home the next few days, his wife could get him outta the house on account of FF. He had to see it.

So, 4 'verts in a week. Makes up for the four months of strange looks.

Zoe: Planet's coming up a might fast.
Wash: That's just 'cause I'm goin' down too quick. Likely crash and kill us all.
Mal: Well, if that happens, let me know.

My coworker and manager just got married a couple weeks ago and he had invited me to the wedding. As his job is tech support, I figured he was a target audience and have been itching to get him to try Firefly all the time I've been with the company.

So on Serenity Day 1 in June I bought him Firefly --and couldn't resist buying him Serenity as well, it was so cheap that day-- as his wedding gift.

I feel like I've achieved ultimate geekdom by giving him the BDS and BDM for his wedding, but it was the only thing I could imagine giving him, it just seemed so perfect. I didn't even think of doing anything else :)

Here's to hoping the newlyweds like it!

hehe, Amy

Oh, goodness, we're glad you held off
and he was converted! Hehe.
(Do Reavers use patterns when they sew
your skin into clothing?)

I love the virality of the conversion
described here. Too bad the show wasn't
on long enough -- hey, Fox, the word is
"nurture" when applied by other networks --
for it to catch on with the general public.
