I live in Vancouver, the (usually rainy) lovely city that hosts Bard on The Beach, an annual Shakespeare festival that puts on 4 of the Bard's plays (used to be 2, then 3, now 4) each year, of the director's choosing. It is now in its 17th year, and the shows are A Midsummer Night's Dream, Troilus and Cressida, Measure For Measure, and The Winter's Tale.
I went to see Dream (of course), and while standing in the shady lineup (HEAT WAVE), and filing in, my family (me, twin brother aka.CunningOrangeToque, mother, father) hear behind us: "OH! Firefly!" We turned around and, sure enough, a woman who was apparently just out of undergrad studies and into graduate studies was pointing at my brother's shirt. You know, the brown one with SERENITY on the upper back and BROWNCOAT: May have been the losing side, still not convinced it was the wrong one on the front. My brother and i grinned, gave eachother high-fives and whooped. I told him "i should have worn MY firefly shirt" which has "Who's flying this thing?" "Oh, right, that would be me" on the front and back (Thanks, TCM). Then we grinned more as we heard the woman and her father engage in a discussion about where they were in the eps and when to watch the movie.
To make a long story slightly shorter, the point here is that it's nice to see that there are still people getting into it even now, and close to home too, that i don't know. wOOt!
I'm babbling like a moonbrain.
