Fans in Europe

Hi everyone,
Firefly was never shown on German TV, so I had no idea. I sneaked around Serenity in the DVD store a few times and decided to buy it, when I realized, that it was a Joss Whedon. And then I watched it.
Within the next 10 days or so, I had
- bought and watched firefly (some episodes over and over again)
- read the comic (those left behind)
- bought a bigger TV as to enjoy the show better (no kidding - well the purchase was somewhat planned already, but actually scheduled for later this year)
- got for the first time ever registered at a fan site.
- read my first fan fiction ever
- started to write my first fan fiction ever (guess, I'll post it here, once it's finished)
So I guess, I'm a Bowncoat now - where can I enlist for them independents? Well I know, the war is over, but if there's any way to get firefly flying again, I'm willing to join the troops.
I saw some posting in a thread from "Gelassenheit" (German for "Serenity"), so I guess, there are some German fans here - or from other European countries? Any events or groups one could participate in?
By the way: the German translation of Firefly is just crap. Half of Joss' humour is "lost in translation" (I don't get started on the Germans-have-no-humour-thing, but of what I heard from the German translation, one could believe it).
So please, all you Americans: there is a whole world to be won for the case (if not a 'verse), so don't just rely on your own power. If there's anything, we Europeans can contribute to the cause, let us know (I have heard, that the last season of Babylon 5 could be produced mainly due to pressure, that British fans put up. Don't know, if that's true, though). If it's buyig the DVDs, to show FOX, that there still is some money to be made (hand over fist, my friend!), I already have some good ideas for my Christmas-shopping :o)
Esther (no Alias - do you think, Mal would use one?)

So nice to see you!
And the war is not over. It's far from over. I'm thinkin' we'll rise again. We hold til Mal gets back! (Also spread the word to anyone who will listen and vote with our dollars and promote as much as possible and write letters and... Oh, any number of things.) So welcome to the fold! There's fresh wine, wife soup, ice planets and strawberries in the galley. There also might be coffee and/or tea, along with some mudder's milk and some kind of unidentifiable dip that is supposed to be bean, but is highly questionable.
Followmal should be along at some point to issue you a virtual browncoat as her own personal welcome. I'm sure it will fit perfectly.
And yes, there are many fans in the UK. Browse around and you'll see them talking about Serenity 3 (a convention) and the extras on the German version of the movie (which I in the States am madly jealous of, by the way.)
It's a good boat. Welcome home.
And I'm looking forward to your fic! I love to read different takes on the 'verse.

Hi PhoenixRose,
thanks for the reply and sorry, that I haven't answered until now. Was kind of busy the last days - partially with writing the fanfic. I'm at page 14 now and it looks to become around 20. Might have to cut it in pieces, but don't want to put anything up, before it's all finished (I fear, I might not get a good plot line, otherwise). Its kind of hard do write in a language, that's not your mother tongue, so I hope, I'm not building too many grammar mistakes in. Won't be able to get some of this beautiful "dialect" in, though.
Thanks for the hint regarding Serenity 3 festival.I'd really love to go there, but my aunt will be visiting (from the states :o) ) World is getting so small - might be time, to leave for another solar system...
Read you around

*waves* Hey!
I'm from Ireland, and I know for a fact there is one other Irish poster. My brother
There are a few other Irish posters about, and loads of British posters, all who seem very witty and funny and stuff. I don't know of any German posters, but I'm sure there are some around. Welcome to the board! You're gonna love it here! Trust me

Hi DesktopHippie!
Beannacht to the green Isle! I lived in Limerick for almost a year (back in 1992)! Where are you at? Have you heard about the Event at Heathrow? Planning to go there?

English fan here. Seriously thinking about going to S3 (well, I will if my house sale goes through in time so I'll have the cash to go).
Seriously, if you're looking for somebody to have a quick read through of your fic to sort out some of the bigger errors in grammar, let me know (I do some writing, and have done some proofreading before now).
For every battle honour, a thousand heroes die along, unremembered and unsung...

Hi Kessie,
I'd love to. I'm from Frankfurt, so Munich would be somewhat around a 5 hour drive, though. When does it happen? And where?
