Thorne's move
Gradually, the patrons at the Hara Cary begin to understand that they are witnessing a bender of epic proportions. Disgusted at the non-arrival of the Serenity crew ("Heard 'em land hours ago...Gorram dock's only a few hunnert meters away.") Thorne has started mixing beer, wine, and liquor in combinations and volumes that make even the most seasoned drinkers in the bar queasy. Clutching a bottle of mescal, he finally sinks back to the floor and falls into an uneasy sleep. He dreams.
[The floor of Serenity valley is covered with neat rows of agave plants. On the leaves of each plant is scratched the name of an Independent soldier. Thorne, dressed as the commedia dell'arte character Harlequin, is running for the last shuttle out, his parti-colored tights being ripped and torn by the spikes of the plants; his legs bleeding. But no matter how fast he runs, the shuttle never gets any closer. "Wait. Wait for me, Mister. I want an Ice Cream too." The still-distant shuttle lifts and floats away, bells ringing. As he had somehow expected, the agaves now turn into tombstones. All except the one directly if front of him. As massed pipers play "Amazing Grace", the ground under the agave splits and a Conex container rises to the surface. Thorne, now dressed as Ali Baba, walks to the doors, raises his staff, and shouts. "Mellon!" The doors open and he walks into the darkness. ]

ooc--wow I need to start posting at 3am!
Inara's turn
Jayne slides over to the bedside. She is still a bit confused....I'm in your bunk, Jayne? She stares up at him, eyes unfocused. Jayne seems to be somewhere else himself, his attention drawn inward, even as he helps her to sit up.
Jayne proffers two small pills in one meaty hand. She notices there is a bandage there, and a little blood had pinkened the weave. She licks her lips again...coppery. She takes the pills, and the small cup of water he offers. She winces at the bitter taste. Jayne watches as she swallows and tips her head back down onto his pillow.
Thank you, Jayne...that should help. I'm so sorry I've brought you into my deception. I was fine until a year or so ago...then I just started getting nosebleeds, shakes...not very becoming of a Companion, I'm sure you know. I've hidden it since then, using only the most discreet of medical staff. It has worked....until now.
Inara's mind turns back to the past--the tests, the worry...she brings herself back to the present...no. I won't think about that now.
"I need to get to a medical facility on Hara, Jayne. I can get what I need there. I can probably make it myself."
Inara swings her legs over the side of the bed.
You don't suppose anyone's looking for either of us, do you?
She struggles to rise, her muscles moaning in conmpaint. She catches a glimpse of herself in Jayne's mirror.
...all dishevelled, eyes wide and glassy, her hair is mussed, and there is a line of red from one nostril to the bow of her lip.
I should get cleaned up, Jayne. Can I....could you maybe go out for a bit?
my creative juices wouldn't start flowing this mornin :) think it's too early for me *yawn*
End Inara's turn
Just a humble supplicant in service to all things Joss

I try not to interrupt too much, but I am really enjoying it! (it's awful confusing sometimes though...)
I'm doing the RP, and I can get confused. It can be hard when you don't know who's thinking what, and then dramatic irony plays in, and you want to tell the character something like "GET OUT!" or such. But it's very, very fun.

I liked it so much, I'm copying it. Imitation, purest form of flattery! It's a little cumbersome with all the codes, but I like the end-result structure.

From Thorne's recent move.. Gradually, the patrons at the Hara Cary begin to understand that they are witnessing a bender of epic proportions. Disgusted at the non-arrival of the Serenity crew ("Heard 'em land hours ago...Gorram dock's only a few hunnert meters away.")
OOC:
Point of contention here. It has not been several hours since we landed. In game time it's only been a couple minutes. Time is pliable in a roleplay. Generally one cannot turn back the clock, but it's certainly not feasible to assume time is moving equal to real time. In real time we're not all online simultaneously when the characters are together in game time. So we just touched down and only a few minutes have passed in game time.
Otherwise Wash would have been drinking soup for a day and a half straight.

Zoe's Move:
Notices WASH's concern, and opens her mouth to ask him about it when he seems to "go away" for a second. Her brow furrows slightly when he tells her that someone's in trouble and asks where RIVER is. She puts the hand WASH isn't holding over his, while reacting for the moment as if this is nothing out of the ordinary.
"Can't say as I know exactly where she is at the moment, husband, but I imagine she's fine or we'd all know 'bout by now. Cap'n should be up soon to set up the meet. We'll check everyone out and make sure they're fit 'fore we leave the ship."
MAL enters the GALLEY just as ZOE finishes speaking and lays out his plans for the meet. Noticing WASH's grip on her hand, ZOE speaks up with a sidelong glance at WASH's worried face.
"Sir, with all the trouble we had in the gettin' here part o' this job, we might want to take stock o' the crew and see just who's been hurt and who ain't. I can always call Thorne and put him off for a bit if need be. We ain't due to meet him til nightfall."
End Move.
OOC: Man! Long thread again already!
Nice to see that the RP is flowing so well. I'll have to start another new thread by the end of the day, looks like. I really gotta finish the synopsis!
Edit: I think we can work around the time thing. I made it so that we're not due to meet Thorne for a bit, so maybe Thorne can play off that he was to 'floshed' know what time it was, and/or was hearing things...

OOC:
Here's a suggestion - what if we put the OCC posts in a separate thread. The Alpha chat is good for current green room chatting, but it doesn't provide an archive like a thread does. Maybe we could reduce the length that way?
Also, I'm saving the RP myself, mainly because this is helping keep my head in Firefly so I can get my fanfic finished one of these here weeks. Gorram holidays put me WAY behind in my Firefly-age.

OOC: That's a pretty fantastic idea, Channain. I'll take care of that right now, as a matter of fact & will post the link here when it's done. There'll probably still be some posting OOC when someone places a move, but for the most part, if we could post any OOC commentary to the OOC thread, that would help those who are reading the RP (not just us that are playing it) to get through it a little quicker.
Edit: Here's the new thread for OOC commentary:

OOC:Point taken, although I could fudge and note that in Thorne's current condition, his sense of time probably bears only a passing resemblance to the relativistic state of the rest of the 'verse. Hence:
Thorne's move
Thorne wakes from a half-remembered dream with a peculiar longing for a bowl of Rocky Road, and checks the time. Both watches on his wrist show that only a few minutes have passed since the asian chicks left the bar. "Sure sheemed longer." he mutters. "Wish shose guys'd get'chere 'nget dealin'."
