My brother was already a sci-fi fan, which helped, though not so much television, but books. In fact, I wasn't even a sci-fi fan pre-Firefly!

My favorite character is and always will be Mal. From the moment those magic words came out of his mouth ("To-whubba-who?") *swoon* I was hooked.

Believe it or not, I actually noticed the show because of Nathan Fillion. He was on one of my favorite sitcoms of all time, so when I saw he was doing a new show, I had to check it out. Ironic, eh?

Thanks for the welcome!

No actually, Firefly, I believe, is the first sci-fi show I've ever been a full-fledged fan of.

Badger looks good? really?, or are you makin fun of me? I mean.. I am male and being heterosexual am not really in a position to know such things.
If, however I didnt lean toward women folk, I think Mal or Jayne would appeal to me more than Badger :)

Of the regular cast my list of most to least favorite is Jayne, Mal, Wash, Book, Inara, Kaylee, Simon, River.

Thank you for the welcome! I wish I had never found this site, there's so much I want to read, and no time to do it! LOL!

I don't see Badger as a nemesis for the Mal & crew at all. More of a necessary evil. JMO!

I know what you mean about so much to read and so little time. Luckily my job allows me access to the net, & sufficient time to read & post.

As for Badger being a necessary evil, I think that is a good way of summing him up. He is really not powerful enough to be a nemesis, though he can make things rough on Mal & crew when they enter his sphere of influence. He does make for a colorful character when Mal needs to find work.

Badger looks very good to me. Why? Is that wierd?? Mark Sheppard is a good-looking man to begin with, and I love his whole look for Badger. The clothes, the half-beard, right down to the "very fine hat"

Well, at least we both had Jayne at the top of our list for regular cast! LOL!

*sigh* I used to have one of them jobs. The job I'm at now, I have access, but no time.

I agree with all of the above, but I would take it a step further. Not only is he not powerful enough to be their nemesis, I don't think he's interested in being one. I think he needs them as much as they need him.

Firefly terminology in my head. The day I use it out loud, however, I will worry.

Don't think about it when you use it out loud! I only curse in Mandrin now! (It's very fun, too.)

Wow just found this site and I was floored.I could not believe my eyes to see that there was an entire site devoted to firefly. When I had heard that Joss was making a firefly movie a while back I had to stop and wonder why even try.The show was a low average at best and I can see why it was dumped.

First off before the flaming starts let me say Joss is a genius and I loved all of his other shows. Most of the firefly cast rocked especially Fillion.I really do not think special effects make a good movie or tv show I believe it is the acting and writing.I did think firefly's effects were good and so was the acting. The writing for the show as always with any of Joss's projects was awesome but the show was severly lacking in several areas.

Many of the episodes excluding the dialogue and acting were very boring. The few episodes that got on the air did not draw me into the storyline at all.In fact the way the first few episodes went it came off as a bunch of entertaining people flitting through space cracking snappy dialogue.Myself like many people I have talked to just lost interest in the show do to a lack of surrounding story set up.Everytime that something about why they were fleeing or any other interesting fact about the universe was mentioned they would drop it.Then the crew would just scamper off into the galaxy on there next bungle.

The wild west feel was also a bit much. You will be hard pressed to gather major interest in a show that portrays a high tech adventure at one point and then a campy western outpost town at the other.

I really wish firefly was a better show because I think it had great potential.I think for one of the first times in my life of watching tv firefly was the first show that spent too much time on character development and not enough surrounding world creation and development.

Oh well I felt like saying my peace on the subject and if any one has retorts they are very welcome.

You did not reference watching the DVD's in your post, so I assume you have not seen every episode filmed in the order they were intended. I think once you view the box set you will realize what an injustice that network did to the show. Watch all of the eps on the set and then get back to us. If you have seen the DVD's, then my mistake, and you are entitled to your opinion. But if the movie is made, give it a chance.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.
