Seriously thats awesome, I can only imagine what its like up there circling the earth at increadible speed or being launched into the black on some mission to another planet. Dare I say, "It must be the closest thing to serenity as you can ever get, floating up there in the black."
I Fourth it.
I'm glad the shuttle progam is back in action.
On a side note, I'll bet $5.00 that from now on, no spaceship will ever be given a name that starts with a "C", as the only two ships that had C names were destroyed. Kinda like how it's bad luck to rename a sea-going boat.

How many Jaynes does it take to change a light bulb?
Two. One to try to put it in and another to find a bigger hammer.

I'm surprised no one has remembered Adam's old series "The Cape"! That was a great show - I was lucky to catch a few episodes when it was on tv. Favorite scene: Adam as Jack Riles leading a group of astronaut candidates on a run acroos the beach - short shorts and a very loose Air Force tanktop - a more muscles than you can shake a stick at!

I've got to put up a better antenna so I can listen to the Shuttle downlink audio that is put out over a ham radio repeater in the Atlanta area. Pretty common thing for hams to do, so look for it if you're on 2 meters.
And what I REALLY need to upgrade for is so I can talk to the astronauts while they're on the ISS. Many of them are hams and will chat with people in their downtime, and that's just freaking cool.
Bouncing signals off of the OSCAR sattelites would be cool....oh, lets just be honest. I just plain want to buy better equipment. I also want to quit my job, so I've got a bit of a conflict going on.

Sorry for the long link, and I am sure all of you are aware of this, but the shuttle is heading home!

*wipes tear*
I've never been so proud to be from Houston... Even though I had nothing to do with this.

are calling to settle the issue "once and for all". Sounds good to me, sport...
(And for you anti-RWED folks, I won't be continuing in this vein in this thread. Replies to this post
will get no reply from me.)

It was a beautiful sight! Wish I could have seen it for real...only got to look at pictures.
I love this line from the Yahoo news report:
At touchdown, hoots and whistles came from the few hundred relatives of astronauts and space center workers watching the landing.
