Saw it last night, awsome visuals, some of the very best I've ever seen. Story needed some serious followin', but that's a good thing.

I feel the same way. The Spirits within was not really all that concerned with the characters. Of course, there was the love interest between the captain and the scientist, but mostly the plot seemed to try to get the viewer more focused on the visuals. Advent Children really has character depth, especially with Cloud's regret and sadsness over the deaths of Aerith and Zack. While the visuals for Spirits Within movie were good, they lost some of the "fantasy" aspect. I expected more. Advent Children really keeps that part of it. The slow motion shots during the fight scene in the church between Tifa and Loz, the flower petals flying in the air. The forest fight scene you mention. The showdown between Cloud and Sephiroth. Lots of mood brought about just by the way the scenes were filmed.

The story is tough to follow, but you can sit back like someone else said and just drool at the animation.
