Final Fantasy VII is my God so I might not be impartial but here is my take.

Final Fantasy VII is bliss, bliss on tap, bliss in a pie, I love it more than is healthy, so to compare Advent Children to a religious experience would not be far off.Every single shot could be used as a the coolest wall paper you will ever have (seriously just press pause at random).

High points

The Full Group Vs Bahamut

Vincent in general

And of coarse the one everyone wanted to see

Cloud Vs Sephiroth!!

Oh my God I love it! I love how utterly unbothered Sephiroth is by everything. Buildings are flying Cloud is working hard but Sephiroth is just effortlessly gliding along as if it was the easiest thing in the world. I love that in a Movie where everyone is inhumanly fast Sephiroth is still faster.

I love that fact that Cloud is still the only character in with no theme.

I just love it in general.

If there there was one thing I didn't like it was the fact that Aerith was such a living part of the movie. It somewhat detracts from the horror of Sephiroths murder of her

Also if could be argued that Cloud would not be able to take Sephiroth in a straight one on one fight but that's a argument for elsewhere.

Here is some trivia for people who have never played FFVII.

I didn't care for VIII a whole lot, either ;p

I still need to watch AC...it's hard to believe I still haven't seen it when FF VII is the game that's taken more hours from me than any other.

My ideal Star Wars movie would be to grab the cutscenes from Jedi Knight (the live-action ones) and build the scenes between them.

Advent Children was a phenominal movie, considering it came from a sub-par Final Fantasy game.

For anyone here that hasn't played any of the Final Fantasy series, you are doing yourselves a disservice. FF has run the gammut of systems, having titles on NES, SNES, Game Boy, GB Advance, DS, Game Cube, PS1, PS2 and the PC. Must plays out there (in this order):

FF VI (III in the US) on SNES
FF IV (II in the US) on SNES
FF VIII on PS1
FF Tactics on PS1
FF X on PS2
FF I on GBA (major improvements over the original and PS1 editions)
FF VII on PS1
FF Mystic Quest on SNES
FF Adventure on GB (remade as Sword of Mana on GBA)
FF II on GBA
FF X-2 on PS2
FF Crystal Chronicals on Game Cube
FF IX on PS1
FF V on PS1
FF Legend Trilogy on GB

And for those that are wondering, FF III was never released in the US.

The original FF movie bothered me because it had nothing to link it to the series at all. Granted, all the games are independant, but there were continuing themes in all of them, none of which was in the movie. They just threw the FF name on there hoping to bring in a crowd.

I have played and completed every numbered Final Fantasy ever released (apart from III) and I could not disagree with you more. FFVII is the greatest of them all with FFVI coming in a close second.

Most people do, though I can't imagine why. The game felt rushed, and there were too many gaps. The majority of the popularity behind VII was that it was the first "next-gen" installment. Most FF players today started on that one and went back and played the others. The movie filled some gaps and provided some closure, the FF anime that's being translated (pity it's only one episode a scant 25min) should fill in many of the others. Here's hoping.

This is a discussion that needs its own topic, I'm on it! Go to the "Final Fantasy" topic, I'd be excited to argue with smart people for a change as to to the best FF games of all time.

Other forums have these jackass kids that say "VII sux cuz the graphics are lame"

As far as AC goes, I loved it and do think it was a bit better than Spirits Within. However, I think it's tough to compare them because the tone is so much different in the two movies. Another way to say it, "one of the movies has Steve Buscemi." I find Advent Children much, much more serious and the reason I like it more is just that its an endless thrill ride. Plus I could just stare at the animation in awe with a spittle of drool coming from my mouth for the rest of my life.

Highlight moments:
1. Introduction of every party member during Bahamut fight
2. The forest fight.
3. Sephiroth's return (literally, I screamed with joy when he reappeared)
