Since this has nothing to do with friefly (which is why it's not in general), but on our shiny little verse so I'm putting it here.

How many planets do you believe is in our solar system? There are three main beliefs.

1. There are 8 planets because Pluto shouldn't be considered a planet.

2. There are 9 planets because that is what I learned in school.

3. There are upwards of 16 or more planets because if Pluto is a planet there are more pluto-like planets out there.

Me, I believe in number 3, I've studied info on the planets, Trans-Neptunian objects and Kuiper belt objects and realized that some of them better qualify as planets then Pluto and therefor should also be named planets.

I believe in the traditional 9 planets. It's easy to remember the planets this way and I don't believe the others will really ever be accepted as planets. I wish we could travel out there and actually see what's beyond us, as far as I'm concerned alot of the information about the rest of the universe is nothing short of guesses.

Isn't there a probe headed out towards Pluto with the intent of seeing what is actually out there?

Well 2003 UB313 is now under consideration to become the 10th planet but is not due to all of this Planet X talk.

I wanted to be an astronomer when I was a kid. My dad took my brothers and I to the Chicago Planetarium all the time when we were kids. Then I had to get the mandatory public school brainwashing and now I'm just a button pusher.

My programming would only allow me to believe that there is nine planets.

BTW... did you read that there's a planet they discovered 149 light years away from Earth that has 3 suns that they've dubbed Tatooine?

So what if UB313 becomes a planet it may be named Persephone. Dubbed names usually don't become the planets final name. As UB313 was originally dubbed "Xena"

Xena was such a better name. UB313 sounds like a bad band name from the 80's.
