What the hell is your problem? I don't want to ban you, i simply want you to act like a reasonable and polite person. Sure, people have bad days and whatnot, and i can forgive them. As long as you remain a relatively polite/compassionate/rational human being i'm fine. Just don't go back to ShadoFly. And you know, in reference to what i quoted, that's pretty strange. At this point it seems like you simply want people to pay attention to you or feel sorry for you.

Please, don't be a troll anymore. It's not like it is a chronic condition. Troll's can be reformed. So reform. Who knows, maybe you'll be a productive member of the Browncoat community.

Guy: I'm really sorry you got caught in this sick needy woman's deaire to hurt other people in order to give herself the illusion of having a life.
You didn't deserve to be treated like that by anyone.

I hope you know that you are valued and appreciated,
I'm not a mod, and I don't know Haken, so I'm not involved in an decisions about banning one way or the other.
I know that this has caused you a lot of unnecessary pain, and I hope that you can get past it and enjoy this site in spite of all the ugliness brought here by the Drama Queen.

I stare at all of you and wonder where you end and where you begin.

River

Well, if this board is the only time you reach out, maybe you should be a little nicer. And you know words can hurt, no matter what form they come in. To be honest, i was angry for you blatant disregard for people's emotions. And i certainly would have been hurt if you'd said that to me about my dog, if my dog was dying, which she's not.

And i don't get that last part of your quote. What's it mean?

In actuality, those words are really all that exists on these forums. What we say and share is all we can really be judged on. Names, ages, info and even pics can be very easily faked.

Many posters are able to express more of themselves here than many other places so, it should be no surprise that slamming someone here can be painful. Earlier on, Shadowfly mentioned saying those things to be mean, presumably to hurt someone's feelings.

If everything a poster presents is hate, idiocy and negativity then, that is all that poster is to me here. As far as I am concerned, all you are is what you bring to the discussion and how that can help or enlighten me or others.

To ShadowFLY:
I wasn't going to post on this thread, because I knew it would just be fueling your ego. It must make you feel great to have a whole legion of fans dedicating a thread just to you. But you know what? You remind me of Badger, a sad little king of a sad little hill. Even worse than Badger because you're not getting paid for any of it. If we are the "small people" you claim we are, then you have nothing to be proud of because we are so "small" and our opinion should not matter to you or to anyone. If we are the "big people" however, you feel that you got our attention, and that is what fuels your upsetting posts, so I'm assuming here that you think of us all as wonderful people, or else you would not want attention. So I guess, in a way, you're complimenting us...thanks for the compliment. And so, if we are the big people, I guess that makes you small...

To All Nice People:
Yes, we are great people, we have the ability to recognize an amazing show when it comes around, and to use it as a sort of guide. The morals established in Firefly are quite simple, and great lessons can be learned, whether it is to tell someone you love that you do love them when you have the chance, to fighr for what you believe in but not at the expense of losing your humanity, or being willing to give anything for a friend, we were able to learn. Based on the amazing art and writing produced from this site, it also fuels our creativity and taps into a place that may have been unknown to us. We are mighty, and it is wonderful that we can band together in our love for Firefly. Because we are so great, I think that ShadowFLY or River, whoever it is, does not deserve any more of our attention, because he or she is truly a small person. This has been said a few times before and I'm sayign it again now, he or she got his thread and that's about all the attention he or she deserves. It's time for this to stop.

River stares ar Nanite1018 for a few moments before she comes over to him, grabs him by the neck, forces him up against the nearby wall and unsheaths her extremly, sharp knife and holds it up against his throat.

A bad day? You think this is all because of a bad day? Feel sorry? You think I want people to feel sorry for me? How could you feel sorry for me? What would feeling sorry for me look like?

I don't want anything from any of you. No, let me correct myself. I don't want nor need your pity. I don't want your attention, but I do want to not be dismissed which you people are so very good at doing.

You sorry, simple minded heard animals. Fit it all in a box have you? If you can't understand it, and if it doesnt subscribe to what is considered rational thinking its sick is it? I guess by your standards I'm sick because I don't line up and enter your social order of operations. Be nice and play well with the other is it?

River moves away from Nanite1018 and throws the knife away. She walks away from him and his fit-in the-box friends, and she's totally disgusted. She wonders how is it that there is no flexability in the minds of the human animal.

Very sorry. um... hm. I don't dismiss you. I simply disagree. Now, i'll take part in a good hearty rational debate anytime, i'd love to. But simply saying "grow some balls" and "stop feeling bad, it's an animal" and whatnot is not part of a rational debate. You explain your side, i'll explain mine. Sorry to offend. And yes, you should play reasonably well, such as not throwing people against a wall and holding a knife to their neck. Stand up for what you believe in but don't attack someone unless they attack you first. I didn't attack you. Hell, i've probably been one of the nicest people on this thread or the other thread. To you at least.

And you know, my mind s flexible, but only to facts, to rational discussion, to cost-benefit kind of things. Weigh the pros and cons. I weigh everyone's opinions to my own moral standards and see if they fit. Hell, i even weigh other's moral standards to see if they are more rational and beneficial then mine. Normally my opinions/beliefs don't change. But if someone can truly give a valid, logical reason for me to change my mind, that tips the scale the other way, then i'll change. It's only that so far, i haven't seen a logical argument, just rants and/or emotional outbursts. I am sorry if i offended you in any way. Didn't mean to.

On some forums, campaigning for the banishment of another poster is considered harassment.

anyone with half a brain cell would look at those posts and say "that person should be banned" and if that's not the way of the forum I'm on (no matter the subject of said forum) then I wouldn't want to post on it

a little edit to that statement what I meant to say is "anyone with half a brain cell would look at those posts in the context of that thread and say "that person should be banned""

that is the meaning. I don't want to be accused of campaining for the bannishment of another person because I don't agree with their opinions.

I would like to say ,however, that when expressing one's opinions one should do so in a manner that isn't thoughtless with regards to whoever they are speaking to.

I'm at a loss here. Someone please explain to me why anyone gets offended by words on a computer screen. Very few of us have ever met in person. Very few of us ever will. I know a lot of people refer to those they meet on the internet as a significant part of their lives. I really don't get that. There is almost no way to validate anything a person says about themselves online. If I see someone referring to their being rich, gay, catholic, charity worker, lawyer, or whatever I pretty much ignore these things as extraneous information. I can't prove or disprove these things nor would I care to.

I really need to get back on topic. I do agree with SF on one point, people do need to grow thicker skins with regards to many things. The barbs thrown around on the internet are more or less meaningless no matter how insensitive they may be.

Pesonally I prefer to argue with people in person. It's much more fun seeing the physical reactions to a well conceived insult. Since I joined up at this site I can't remember having really gone after anyone because that isn't why I come here. If that is another person's cup of tea so be it. Tussle with them then move on with your life.

This rant isn't directed at anyone in particular. It would be more accurate to say it is directed at everyone because there has been an awful lot of bellyaching lately.

One last thing. People please stop calling everyone you don't like a troll. It's really getting old.

The only reason i like arguing with people in person more is because it's faster. Quicker response time, you know. I understand that insensitive comments on the internet shouldn't be all that big of a deal but still, people should be polite no matter whether it's on the internet or in person. And none of this is about the person, it's about the actions of said person and how they portray themselves, because that is all they are. All of us are only to each other what we present to others. So if you only present a cruel, insensitive side then i can only assume your cruel and insensitive. If you only present a super happy gushy emotional side than i can only assume your super-happy gushy and emotional. So we should all try to not insult each other and not attack others.

Like i said before:

"If someone tries to kill you, you try to kill 'em right back."
