You city people know nothing of life. Your little fluffy dies and suddenly the whole world has to sing "We shall over come." Well I live out in the sticks and an animal is a tool not a friend.

My dogs keep me safe. They attack anyone that isnt me. I feed 'em and they take care of me. They react to my moods so when I'm down they comfort me. If I were attacked they would shred the attackers. When they die I bury them and buy and train some new dogs. As long as they are alive I love them for the living weapons that they are.

Shadowfly, shut up; you hundan. I cannot believe you are so insensitive. He loves his dog and doesn't want it to die. If you've had a dog for 16 years, since you were ten, loved it and cared for it, feeling like it's a member of your family; you would be sad it's dying too.

I've had my dog for only 3 and 1/2 years and i feel like she's a member of the family. I would feel terrible if she died.

To Ged, sorry to hear about it. I completely understand your feelings.

To Shadowfly, shut up and go back to where you belong, troll country.

I aim to misbehave.

Not true, from the dog musher also out in the sticks. Moose are to be eaten. Sled dogs are teammates, family, they are relied upon to keep you out of open water, to find the way home. All of mine--and they number in the hundreds--have been mourned when their days were done, and I remember all of them. It never gets any easier to lose them, and it shouldn't.

I'll take any one of those dogs over any of the ex-boyfriends, too.

Sorry to hear about this, GED, I lost the last of my old leaders last fall and he was only 14.

"Do not go gentle into that good night....
Rage, rage against the dying of the light. . ."
--Dylan Thomas

Though my soul may set in darkness
It will rise in perfect light.
I have loved the stars too fondly
To be fearful of the night.

*hugs*

I'm so sorry. I lost my dog a little over a year ago and I can't say it wasn't tough. Both me and my mom would swear we'd hear her trodding down the hall for the longest time and I still have to stop myself from calling out to her from time to time.

If he had lost a friend (human) I would have offered a few words of comfort, but he lost or is losing a dog! Big deal! Plenty more where that came from. I'm not being insensitive. He shouldn't be a big sissy about losing his ego exstension.

I was devestated when a dog ate my budgie. Just because there not human don't mean there lesser then we are. If you own pets you would know how bonded you get to your pet. there like family.
I knew my friends dog so well, I cried when he died of cancer. there is no shame in getting emotonal over your pets.

Mr Shadowfly seems to be judging people by his own standards.
He doesn't seem to feel like much of a man without his 2 big dogs to intimidate people with.
Funny that someone describing animals as mere tools should be such a 'tool' himself.

Go run your little world.
