Glad to see others planning on going into geek overdrive in costume making this summer! I plan on making a Zoe vest and jacket out of leather! Nicely ambitious for a first project. My firend has made me a replica Zoe mare's leg carbine which is just shiny!
Tristan, I've been skimming the imponderables thread today trying to catch up but that there's some heavy stuff. Not really able to jump into such a deep pool for a quick splash and I'm too busy for the serious swimming (as it were). I'll post serious and interesting thoughts at point (or possibly just streak through shouting BOOBIES! to lighten the atmosphere!)

Oh boy is that tempting. I will talk to the husband and see if we can arrange it. The combination of Firefly fans and Atlanta is potent and then some!!! Of course I'd have to really bust a gut to get the costume done in time and figure out if I can get a subsitute for those days....hmmm ( madly planning)

Well, there's the fact that I make a barely living wage and travel+hotel=too much. There's also the fact that the place I work has a very set schedule; I was lucky to get time off to have my wisdom teeth out. There's not enough people working there is the problem, so shifts (particularly graveyard shifts) have no way to get covered without kicking into overtime, which is absolutely forbidden. Plus no one wants to do it anyway.
I'm trying to find another job. If I find one in time, I might be able to go, but it's just not looking possible this year.
I'm hoping that the next convention in California will be more doable. It's closer and my brother lives there, so I might be able to stay with him. Plus there will be a lot less about gaming at a comicon. I am only a very mild gamer and would probably have very little to do at dragoncon. (Yeah, okay, that's me trying to make myself feel better...)
