I suspect that several issues are involved but that they mostly boil down to his needing to blame a higher power for his lot in life. He is a failure or is mired in mediocracy and instead of taking personal responsibilty he sees a "grand conspiracy" to keep PirateNews from being the man he was born to be. And he probably has a small penis. I've seen it a million times...er...his type, not his small penis. Jews, the Man, illegals, gays, the rich, the CIA, all scapegoats for personal disappointment or percieved injustice. Medication can help...

Edited to add: Or maybe they really are all out to get him (literally just him)...wouldn't that be ironical? The ICAPN (International Conspiracy Against PirateNews an organization headed by Queen Elizabeth and her gay-jewish-nazi minions, even I'd sign up, just to get the newsletter).

After all this discussion of PN I feel I should read his stuff. And if I did, I'd probably take exception to what by all accounts is hate speech. But I've already tried, really tried, and I just can't get past the first few sentences.

I believe PN has been significantly screwed over. And that he lacks the tools to figure out who and how. That's why he finds conspiracies everywhere. And there's probably a psychologocal component. You don't have to be actively hallucinating to be psychologically disabled. OCD and age-onset paranoia immediately come to mind as two examples. Even though they are 'merely' thought disorders, they are still disorders.

I've mentioned to PN that I'd like to hear his story, but so far he hasn't come forward.

Anyway, b/c of what seems to be hate speech, and his site-disabling posts, he probably should be isolated in troll country.

Hey, I'm really perplexed about something and you're just the man to set me straight! Chris, what draws you in? What compels you to read him past the first few lines? We all of us internet habituees learn to filter garbage and move on--what is it about PN's rants that won't let you do that? If what he writes is garbage, what makes it such interesting garbage? What is it about this profoundly disempowered individual that makes really sensible people like you and Citizen grant him soooooo much power?

And on a totally unrelated tangent: how does one private message someone on this board? Some posts I've read recently imply that such is possible and I have long wanted to correspond with the likes of you and Rue and SignyM more directly than this board affords. You know, how's Mrs. Isall and all the little Isalls doing these days?

Go to the person's profile page and on the left hand side of the screen you'll see a little area to send them a message. Your message will be sent to the email account they used to sign up to this board. Easy Peasy!

PS- I agree with you on filtering garbage. I don't even bother to read it.

Your mileage may vary. I haven't been getting any e-mail notifications from this site in quite a while.

Another option would be to post a blog entry and then communicate back and forth through the comments to the blog. Not very private, but a little more private than a thread.

Other than posting your main e-mail address, you could always create a throw-away e-mail address in yahoo just so people could send you their e-mail addresses. A cut-out, so to speak.

Really...nothing....
I always zip past practically all of it. Being a conspiracy fan myself, there's nothing he posts (W/the noteable exception of the White House sex parties stuff) that I haven't either heard of or know about. Much of it is actually true, but it's his endless and sometimes bigoted presentation that puts the nail in. His power for me is only the amount of time it takes me to scroll (and scroll).
I've seen him post succinct and interesting at times, even right here, but it's few and far between, and he seems most at ease baiting folk.
Too bad.
