Wait - are you saying there are OTHER things in that scene besides Nathan with no shirt on?!!!

WHO KNEW?!?!?

I honestly can say that as many times as I've seen the BDM (probably over 50 at this point) I've never looked at ANYTHING besides Mal in that scene....I may have to force myself to look at the wall next time. (And then go back and watch Mal again!).

Welcome to our shiny boat, SlippingAbout! We love new people with new stories to tell; we also love seeing the verse again through the eyes of newcomers! Almost like seeing it again for the first time!

I'm RadarRese and I help FollowMal (a dame?)(I prefer "our-lady-of-the-Browncoats") hand out 'coats and welcome new people to the verse. OH ANOTHER ONE!!! One of the ships in the attacking reaver "armada" was a Trans-U ...like the one that gets dusted by the crazy Ivan in the pilot.... (I like to think that its the same exact ship.)

Yeah, the first time I saw it in the theater on opening day, I *GASPED* and then my eyes teared up (it must have been the dust, I swear).

Serenity is litterally another character on the show, just as much as any of the actors, and to see her get torn up like that was devistating.

The only redeeming thing the Operative ever did was to patch up her hurt.

And yeah, Joss always meant for Serenity to be the 10th character,
and I think naming both the TV show and the movie after the ship makes that clear,
so I think he knew how upsetting it was to damage her.
