When's the deadline for that there competition?! I want to be able to write several entries from the sublime to the ridiculous!I'm thinking Teen Titans xover! I'm thinking X-men (oh wait, someone already said that, but common, our crew in spandex? Has to be done!)

Ertia, if you want some help on a ranking system, let me know.

I'd suggest having a group of like so many judges and then awarding points to each fanfic based on Originality, Grammar/Spelling/'Versal speak, and Plot/HIlarity. Rate each on a 5 point scale, with each story needing at least three judges. Average out the Judges scores and highest average wins.

"The first weird story"
Originality: 3
Grammar/Spelling/'Versal speak: 5
Plot/HIlarity:2
Total points: 10 out of possible 15

Would that work?

Hmmm...
Guess I've got some planning to do.

I hadn't thought too far about the contest idea- We'll have to drum up a judging panel, figure out deadlines...

I'd like to see cross-over stories start appearing on fanfic websites by mid-August or so.

Wow! This thing is really starting to roll. I'll get planning and get the details ironed ASAP.

Okay, after some careful consideration, I think a contest is a great idea, but I'd like it to be something adjoined, but slightly separate from the Serenity Summer portion of the project.

I just don't want new authors to feel intimidated, or afraid to post their works.

So, I'll put up details on the contest and on the project later today!

I've never writtne fanfic before, but the whole idea of this has just gotten the wheels a turnin' in my head and now I'm going to have to give it a shot. This is a great idea and at the very least, it's fun.

Serenity Summer Crossover Story Contest

Deadline August 20th

RULES:

Stories:
- Of all lengths, cannons and genres are welcome!
-Must be complete. Incomplete entries will not be judged.
-Must contain at least one cannon character from both "Firefly" and the crossover media of your choice.
- Please proofread your story before submitting. The judging panel is here to judge, not beta-read.

Judging will take place with prizes in each of six categories:

Humor
Drama
Action
Romance
Erotica
Poetry/Songfic

Authors are welcome to enter as many stories in as many categories as they wish, but please remember that it is quality, not quantity that will be judged.

Co-Authoring is allowed, but only ONE prize will be awarded per category and we will not cut awards in half to be divied up between co-authors. Our scissors are dull, and it just takes too much time.

Judging will done by a point system based on the following criteria:

-Faithfulness to both Firefly and the crossover universe.
-Originality
-Cohesiveness of Story Structure
-Amount of Bribes sent to Judges.

UH,..I mean, ummm.. BRIBES are specifically NOT allowed to be sent to judges... unless they are sent through me for direct inspection. Yeah, that's it.

Prizes are yet to be determined, but will be announced as soon as we know what they are.

Please post it in any public forum, and send the link to

submissions@jaynesbunk.com

with the following information:

1) Pen-name you would like to be recognized with.
2) Contact email address.
3) What Crossover Universe you used
4) What category you would like your story judged under.

Unfortunately, I don't know how much this will get the world out, as there isn't much of an internet ficcing presence for Sandman. But I could yoink a few of my Gaiman-obsessive friends into it...
