Alright, here's the deal- I have to do a survey thing for my biology class- I only need 7 people to respond, but if more want to that is just fine. It's pretty simple- a few yes or no questions plus your gender and age(or something close to it
).
The questions involve the spineymussel- it is a mussel that lives in the streams/rivers in Virginia and West Virginia. It is also endangered. There are plans to build a bypass near their habitat and this has been causing some controversy. These mussels act as a kind of water purifier and their presence lets people know that the water is good/healthy/whatever. The building of this bypass may affect the mussels or it may not- nothing is certain. These questions ask you whether or not we should take the risk of endangering these mussels by building this road. So that being said, on to the questions...
1. Please state your gender, age, and whether or not you live in Albemarle County, Va (which I doubt anyone who reads this does, but just in case...)
2. Are the traffic problems and the building of this bypass bad enough/important enough to risk the lives of the spineymussel?
3. If we were having a drought and the conditions got really bad, would it be okay to use the water that the spineymussels need for our own use, thus further endangering them?
4. Which of the following is most important to you-- spineymussel survival, water quality for home use, water quantity for home use, the traffic bypass.
5. Which of those(^) four things is the least important to you?
That is all the questions. It seems like a lot but they are just yes/no questions so if you don't understand either send me a private message, leave one on here, or lie and randomly pick yes or no
