Firefly is not listed in the top 20 chart for DVD sales.
Does anyone here subscribe to Billboard.com, who can find out where exactly Firefly placed in weeks following its release?

Yeah, but at the bottom it states that these do not include Internet sales...I wonder how it would do if Amazon's sales were taken into account?

Good point. Thanks. Amazon's listed it in the top 20 for the last few weeks.

Very good point Shiny. I bet if Internet sales were included, it would be in the Top 20.

I just checked Amazon's top 20 list and Firefly was 14th. Not bad. I also checked the top 100 for '03 and it wasn't there, which I guess is not altogether surprising since it wasn't released until Dec. 9th, altough I thought it would be there, however Buffy and Angel were all over it. You'd think that'd give Joss some "sway".

I'd like to point out that part of the reason Firefly isn't in the top 20 is because FOX hasn't made enough of the DVD's to reach the top 20.
Here in Ottawa, for example, every single copy the city can get has already been ordered up by someone for the next 3-6 weeks. I was damned lucky to find a copy on the shelves last monday, and I'd been looking since the day it came out.
HMV considers Firefly just about it's hottest title, and according to them, FOX does too, they just got caught off gaurd by how massive the demand is, and are despretly trying to get more copies out.

Shiny, Mahdi! Maybe then Joss & Crew will get some respect.

The day I found it I went to five stores before I came across it. It was about 10:30 int he morning. At the first store I'd been the 8th person that day alone to ask about it. 8 people in one and a half hours....

I'm curious... how much impact do international sales have on these figures? Do they factor into the Amazon Top 20? Is Fox primarily considering worldwide sales, North American sales, or what?
My guess would be that to Fox, money is money... but then, they're not exactly noted for having limits to their shortsightedness.
