Hi all,
I finally had to de-lurk after seeing the BDM at the Boston screening.
Went to see it on the big screen for the first time since I only discovered the 'verse in February and it was even better than I thought it would be!
I brought 3 people with me who had never seen it before and they all loved it. I also bought 2 copies each of Firefly and Serenity which I will give them when I get them from Amazon.
A few things that I noticed for the first time:
- There were bodies tied to the front of the Reaver ships that were attacking Lilac.
- Jayne must have taken the badge off the security guard that he rips open the shirt of because I noticed it on his shirt when he was in the Maidenhead.
- Movie theatre sound effects!
- Our BDHs are even prettier
- Wash was good about picking up the dinos after they fell.
- Inara's clothes are beautifully textured
- Jayne's cup had a Japanese demon face on it.
- The crash landing of Firefly was like killing it like Book and Wash were killed
- That screwdriver was very small
- Tears well up in the Operatives eyes when he watches the recording
- Kaylee wears a Double Happiness pendant at the funeral
- The pictures on the headstones are projected, not on small screens.
- Jayne holds his chopsticks like the holds his fork.
But most of all I learned that Browncoats are wonderful people. I hope this is only the first time that I get to go to a shindig.

First off, Welcome to the 'verse, and to this fine site which is likely to become a second home to you. Second you listed two things I hadn't noticed yet, the chopsticks and Kaylee's necklace. A dame that goes by the name FollowMal should be here shortly to welcome you properly, she hands out virtual Browncoats to the new posters. Have a pitcher of Mudder's Milk while you wait. *Passes the pitcher of Mudder's Milk to SLIPPINGABOUT*

Wasnt it great on the big screen?! I noticed things too (but for the ficken life of my I cannot think of them! I know I heard a few lines that Ive never heard before)
The Jayne patch thing...I could have sworn! that we saw him rip it off. I distinctly remember that..perhaps that was in an episode? I just figured that part of the film had been lost in pervious showings (it happens). Weird.
When does wash pick up the dinos? I didnt notice that!
I was dumbfounded when Mal came on screen...the difference from my little computer screen to seeing them on the full sized movie screen...just UNBELIEVABLE! Glad you got to expience it on the big screen!

twas a perrty sight as jello was a slingen and the ladies were all in a heap of fun.
Twas a right shiny event for the eyes to feast on.
It was fun!!

Jayne rips the shirt open and we see the patch but I don't think he takes the patch off. Of course, I'll have to watch again to make sure
And I didn't see Wash pick up dinos but they were always back in place after they were knocked about.
There was definitely jaw dropping on my part during the movie. Big sound effects, big fx, and big BDHs. I teared up when Firefly appeared for the first time...right before I cheered

Welcome!!
It was my first time seeing the BDM on the big screen also (although we have a pretty big TV, so it looks pretty good at home). As for sound, the theatre I saw it in had pretty crappy sound, so that was the only thing that is actually better at home (we have surround sound). But I agree, seeing it on the big screen gave it new life and dimension.
Two things that were significantly different for me on the big screen.
1) When Jayne gets hit with the reaver bolt, it really freaked me out. I actually jumped. (not so bad when it's small); and
2) When Mal lands on the platform above the generator (at Mr. Universe's place) and a box falls off the edge, I got horrible vertigo (I have a problem with heights). It never bothers me on my TV.
I'm going to have to watch the BDM again today to catch some of the things mentioned that I have never noticed.
Thanks for the post!!

The Charity Screening was my 19th viewing of it on the Big Screen and I still found something new. I had never noticed before that when Dr. Mathias comes into the records room to see the Operative, the shimmering screen he walks through has the Alliance insignia on it. I had never seen that before!
And I didn't even notice that Kaylee was wearing a necklace - I'll have to go watch it again.

Everything was sooo much larger on the big screen. It was wonderful.
Really the only thing I noticed that I hadn't seen before is that Simon goes down in the doorway when the ship lurches after the Reaver attack. Just before the scene when Jayne is knocked down.

How many Jaynes does it take to change a light bulb?
Two. One to try to put it in and another to find a bigger hammer.

It was soooo nice to see it on the big screen again!
I saw the BDM several times at the theatre, and have seen it several times on DVD (and on my iPOD, believe it or not, how small CAN you go?) BUT, the thing I noticed this time was the lens filters and how they affected the lights.
In the scene where Mal has just come through the floor grating, and he's slipping up the stairs to the bridge where River is, the lights shining into the camera have the most gorgeous affects. Not lens flares like Joss was fond of in FF, but more artsy. I swear one was a star filter, the one above Mal on the far side of the stairs. It was mesmerizing. I felt like a raven, drawn in by the shiny things...mmmmm...look at the pretties!
It's the small things that make a movie great, and this is one of the greatest, IMHO.
