Oh, the rental company sent me the Keira Knightly Pride and Prejudice as well. Just finished watching it.

Now fighting the urge to go watch the 6 hour BBC version before I go to bed to wash the sour taste out of my mouth.

I can forgive the lack of anything approaching an understanding of Regency Era Social structure. I can forgive the fact that the Bennets where suddenly living on old macdonalds farm, I can forgive the irritating acting and the fact that no one in the entire film knows what posture is. I can almost forgive Bingly being a spineless moron and Darcy having all the regal bearing of a petulant teenager. I can even forgive the slapdash costuming.

What I cannot forgive is the screenwriters wholesale butchery of Austens dialogue!

If your going to make a film for people too retarded to follow a few big words, make bloody Clueless! Don't slaughter a perfect book! And then just to add insult to injury pepper the offal with a few phrases recognisable enough to clash horribly with the new script! And please please god, someone hire actors capable of enunciation! Pacing! The power of the pause! Hell, even a breath every so often.

*think calm thoughts* ... ... ...

No, didn't like that film much.

ok, i'll just shut up now. I'm a bit dim when it comes to things like that. I was dating someone for two weeks with out realising that fact. We'd probably have got to D8C and beyond and i would still only have a vague inkling.
