But if you read the scripts in advance, how can you hope to enjoy the episodes as fully as you might have if you watched them fresh?

Ah, but I love spoilers. I read spoilers for "Amends," most of Buffy season six, and all of Buffy season seven, and still loved them all. Besides, how is being spoiled different from rewatching, which is something else I love to do? Admittedly, the suspense isn't as intense for some moments, but you can focus on things like character, details in acting and writing, and cinematography. Not to mention music.

Plus, I watched Firefly after I saw Serenity, so all the "[blank character] is dead/going to die" moments were completely unsuspenseful to me, and I think that they are the weakest moments anyway. It's not about the suspense, it's about the quality of the art in characters and visuals (and music), at least for me.

I guess it all comes down to whether you like to be spoiled or not. I like it. I understand that others don't. But I don't think my way is "lesser" than unspoiled.

I'm one of those people who adore the unspoiled viewing,
where I have no idea what is going to happen next and everything is a shock and a surprise.

But OTOH I didn't have that opportunity w/Firefly
(because Fox ran the pilot last, so I knew Simon wasn't a bad guy and that Kaylee wouldn't die....)

I still think that spoiler free is the way to go,
and I love introducing Firefly to friends who don't know the 'verse and can experience it as it should have been....

but I get it that some people hate surprises:
they read the ends of books first and they always search out spoilers. It seems crazy to me, but hey, each to his or her own!

Well, I don't really watch TV. I watched Buffy, Firefly, and what I've seen of Angel on DVD - I promised myself that I'd only watched shows which were done, so I don't have the weekly problem of fitting it into a schedule which changes a lot.

I do like spoilers for some things, but not everything. I tried going completely spoiler-free for some movies, and the experience wasn't as wonderful as I'd hoped, so I kind of lost interest in being spoiler-free. It's not that I necessarily seek them out, but I enjoyed not worrying about what was going to happen, and just noticing the little artistic bits which the filmmakers/authors/artists/whatevers had created.

Again, it's not that I think my way's better, it's just that I don't think it necessarily lessens my enjoyment.
