Hey all - I remember once upon a time the idea of two Firefly/Serenity Books being thrown around and I remember krad even saying that he submitted for one. Anybody know if this will ever take off? Have the novel spin offs been cancelled? Thanks!

Rather curious about this my own self.

We may need to go to krad directly - the horse's mouth, as it were.

From what I've been reading about it the novels are currently in a holding pattern. Since the future of the Firefly universe is walking a knife edge and depends on how well the DVD sales go, they are uncertain about publishing anything at this time. However, there have also been rumors that if the actually finished novel is not published anytime in the somewhat near future, it will be web-published as fanfiction. Still haven't heard where, but I'm sure someone here will find it if and when it's posted.

Steven Brust has already written and submitted a Firefly novel and
is trying to get it published. He sometimes
reads the first chapter at conventions

Yes, he [Steven Brust] told us that at Synthetic ConFusion in January. He says he'll post it in his livejournal but not until they've pursued all avenues to get it published. So we're talking maybe years if they turn him down. I'd rather see him published than not. It's really good. Or at least the introduction and 1st (or maybe 2nd?) chapter were; he did a wonderful reading of it.
