msg, the group that's fighting with me right now is only using boffer weapons (pvc and padding). We have not moved up to using live steel yet...I am not sure we will. We're having too much fun right now! 
I have used live steel before with another friend, but he and I have been doing this for a long time. We use either dulled Musketeer-style blades or Schlager blades...so nothing with "lethal" tips. If by tipped you mean classic fencing safety tips, then no, I have never used them.

Tristan- actually I fence live steel no protective tip sharp blade. I was just wondering whether you did or not.

I have just learnt that my friend with benefit type person has been reading these threads! I must have raved too much about how great you people are!
OH MY GOD! What have I said, did I say anything bad, I honestly can't remember if there's anything he shouldn't have read. He says he's been amused and not offended by anything but who knows if I posted one day when I was in a grumpy mood and wasn't suitably positive. I'm all addlepated now. Must go back and read all my posts!
He hasn't said what his username is either so he could be lurking anywhere (although apparently he's talked to you Tristan on the language thread, I should go and read that!)
Edit: Found him! I now know his secret identity! He can't creep up on me!! (Except when I want him to!)
