hmmmm let's see which dvds never even make it to the shelf....Firefly. Even though it's far fewer episodes, I can watch them over and over. There's just so much there to love.

The one episode I watched all the way through only featured her as an almost side-note. So, having never gotten into Buffy at all, I also never watched Angel. Hearing that he was "Buffy's Vampire boyfriend" really got to me in the first place. I'm sorry, but how soap-opera can you get? The Slayer in love with a Vampire... I'm sure the writing was good, I'm sure it had some great moments and all that is apparently inherent to a Whedon creation but I just...didn't...care.

I completely sympathize, PR. SMG was one of the things that kept me from watching Buffy when it was on, though I am willing to give it a try (if only to see the episodes with our captain in it ). I never watched Angel either, but I guess I felt like I would have to watch Buffy to really understand it.

I was no SMG fan, thought she looked too small to be any kind of 'slayer', but I gave it a chance due to all the mental tortures visited upon me by Buffyfans all over this site, and damn if she didn't win me over.
But try as I might, I can't fully get into Angel, so I can understand where you're coming from...

But in the end, IT'S ALL ABOUT FIREFLY.

Firefly. Why we still talkin' 'bout this?

I have seen quite a lot of Buffy (unfortunately), all of Angel except the final episode (it's not really over until you see the last episode, right?), and all of Firefly. I did not like Buffy at all. Sarah Michelle Gellar ruined it for me...Allison Hannigan was the only reason I would watch it at all. I really liked Angel, and that made me try to watch more Buffy, but I just couldn't do it...I tried, I really did, just could not enjoy it.
Then came Firefly. Well, Serenity came first for me, but I think you know what I mean. Firefly turned me into a Browncoat. I have never before joined an online community dedicated to anything, let alone a tv show...it changed the way I think, talk, and sometimes act. So, yes, Firefly has my vote.

An interesting tidbit:

Nathan Fillion auditioned for the part of Angel way back in the day. That came straight from him when I had him sign my Buffy/Angel poster at Moonlight Rising.

I was really reluctant to get into Buffy to at first. The whole concept... some of the stuff that I'd heard (that it was very soap operay). It struck me as a very silly silly show. But what it came down to was this: it's Joss Whedon, how bad can it be? It's another creation of Joss. So I gave it a chance. I started with season 1 and told myself I'd watch through season 2. If I really didn't like it by then I'd give up. ...and I fell in love with the show and its characters.

All the things that people say about the show... well they're true. It is very soap operay at times... it is very silly at times. But it is also Joss Whedon. Which means that the individual actors don't have to be stellar. The writing is amazing and just like Firefly (though not quite as well) they welded together into a strong cast, shoring up each others weaknesses. And to be honest... Gellar grew on me. There's more there than people give her credit for.

So in short, yeah, if Firefly had gone longer it'd probably beat Buffy, but then again, part of the reason some people don't like Buffy is becuase there were a few rough seasons in there... maybe if Firefly had gone longer it'd have some of the same problems as Buffy. But for me right now... I've watched the Firefly episodes more times than I can count converting new folks. I've got em all memorized beyond memorization (I can quote many of them start to end in the way I used to do Monty Python episodes). And frankly... I'm kinda bored with the episodes that exist. Were there more I'd gobble them up in an instant... but there's not. So Buffy takes the cake for me. There's simply too much there for me to memorize like that, so I can keep rewatching it and getting the pleasure of watching it for the first time... almost.. becuase I've forgotten what happened since I last watched it.
