I do not know about cruise ships but I have seen film of a capsized oil tanker, which means that it capsized and then stayed afloat long enough for a camera crew in the helicopter to get there and shoot some film of it.
Of course I don't know how long that takes.

One of the worst movies of a fave actor I ever saw: Hanover Street with Harrison Ford. WWII movie, American pilot falls for married English woman whose husband he has to fly with...even Harrison Ford was awful in it!

Well, just about no hull is really watertight. That's why you always see water squirting out of the sides of ships and stuff. If nothing else, small amounts of water can come in around the drive shaft seals etc...
As to staying afloat, yes, it could easily do so. If the hull displaces enough water to float right side up, then the air bubble it traps upside down should easily keep it afloat as well due to basic physics.
MY problem is that the boat would NOT be stable upside down as most of the weight (engins/biolers/etc.) is now at the top. The boat would sinply roll back to one side or one end would sink (probably the stern), release the bubble and go down. Very FEW ships will stay perfectly inverted for long.

Um no. The air pressure would be higher, sure, make your ears pop and all but I don't think nearly enough to blow anyone around like explosive decompression of an airplane would. The air pressure is dependent on depth. only when the ships hull actualy sinks would the pressure go up in any serious way. (1 Atmosphere of pressure, approx 14.5 psi, per roughly 33 feet of water depth as you go down. In metric, its about 1 bar per 10m depth). As the hull is still at the surface, there will be some compression but not all that much. the diplscement of the upside down hull INCLUDES the amount of water pushed down by the trapped air buble.
