What moment first made you fall in love with the show?

For me, it was in the pilot (the real pilot - I'm one of those who never saw the show until it came out on DVD), the first time Serenity's fusion engine kicks in and she shows why she's called a Firefly. What a beautiful image. What a great idea. What a phenomenal story!

...and Fux didn't let them show it, because...why? it was too interesting? not enough s**t blowing up? they had a hot episode of Chains of Love to show instead? WHAT?!

I saw the first episode aired on Fox (Train Job). I saw it written up in the paper and was looking foward to it becaue I liked Gina Torres from Hercules and Cleopatra 2525. Anyway, I thought the show was pretty good. But the defining moment, when I knew I was hooked, was when Mal kicked Crow into the engine.

I agree, when I watched the Train Job on Fox, I spent most of the time thinking to myself that I like these characters, but I don't feel drawn to anybody. Why should I feel sorry for these people, they are thiefs. Then Crow got kicked into the engine, and I was like Whoa! This ain't just any other show this is way different. Then they gave the medicine back and that gave me a reason to want to like them and cheer for them trying to exhist in the dark corners of the verse.

Agreed, I was hooked at that point.

I fell in love with the show at the end of 'Out of Gas', and the look on Mal's face upon seeing Serenity in the distance:

"Tell you what, you buy this ship, treat her proper, she'll be with you for the rest of your life."

The pilot ep., when Mal looks into the cryo chamber and spots a naked River. Says our Big Damn Hero: "huh?".

Where else do you see the Hero lost for words like that? Loved the show from that moment on.

I was a bit of a harder sell.

I think it was in Jaynestown when Simon says "You're pretty. . .pretty" because it was just such a SAD pickup line but so perfectly delivered. And then he screwed up the next morning! And then, once he gets his ass handed to him, Kaylee is pretty forgiving.

It was just so "real" that I fell completely in love with the writing, acting and characters.

For me, it was in 'Bushwacked" where the crew is being interrogated. Zoe tells the dude very firmly that her and Wash's marriage isn't any of his business. Then it cuts to Wash talking about how he loves Zoe's legs. I thought it was such great writing and acting and I was hooked.
