Why does any TV show I actually like get canceled?

What am I, like some kind of reverse TV mojo or something? I loved Farscape, they canceled it. I loved The Job, they canceled it. I'm almost afraid to watch Rescue Me now. But this...this...HOW THE HELL COULD THEY HAVE CANCELED FIREFLY AFTER ONE MEASLY SEASON?!!! This makes me crazy. I've only just discovered this on DVD, you see...so it's probably my fault in the first place, since I was one of the millions who were NOT watching it when it first aired. But this series is f***ing BRILLIANT. How could they cancel this? for WHAT, to air more episodes of Mommy Swap or Cheap Date or some other trash reality show?!

I know, I know, you've all been here before me. Maybe you guys have worked through your disgust and anger at this show being canceled. I haven't yet. Hell, I'm still pissed about Farscape, even if they did screw up the story line by killing off Talon.

Oh, and it took all of two episodes before I turned to my husband and said, "my God, Kaylee is ME" and he said, "it took you this long to figure that out?" ;-)

Thanks for the welcome! I'm glad to see I'm not the only person who became immediately near-obsessive about this Firefly universe.

...and I can't be the only person who did a full-on slapstick spit-take when Jayne said, "That's why I never kiss 'em on the mouth" in Our Mrs. Reynolds.

...and that perfect little pause with everyone staring at Jayne and not saying what everyone was obviously thinking..."then where...never mind!"

Have you found his solo rendition of The Balad of Jaynestown on disk 4 yet? It's absolutely fantastic.

I was laughing so hard while watching Jaynestown that my 11 year old daughter came running downstairs to see what was so funny, and I ended up restarting the episode so we could watch it together. She is now also a Browncoat (naturally).

Yeah, we're all still upset about the show being cancelled. You're not alone.

I think the reason the shows you like get cancelled is that you evidently have taste, and most of the TV audience does not. These TV networks have to cater to the lowest common denomenator, which means more reality shows, more crime dramas, and more dumb sitcoms.
