I saw it a couple of nights ago. I have seen the first two, and was impressed by them. I do not put them on pedestals as the be-all, end-all of comics turned into movies, but they were decent entertainment. I do not think they will change the world...but I enjoyed watching them.
Yes, part III was full of stilted acting, brief tantalizing flashes of characters, and the horrificness that is Halle Berry.
On the plus side...Phoenix! Damn...she frightened me...and yet I could not turn away! I love the destructiveness that was unleashed by her loss of "control" of her own powers. I want one!
I'm ok now. Sorry about that.
If another of this franchise comes out, I hope they bring forth more of the other characters.

I've seen the movie five times now (no more, I'll wait for the DVD now) and I still enjoy it. I hope the huge box office will spur another sequel, it would be a shame for X-3 to be the last, even if there are spin offs.
I wanna be Mr. Baccarin!

Okay, my muse wins; I'm doing the X-3 fanfic.
Can someone refresh my memory; how did Magneto find out about Phoenix/Jean?

There was a mutant that he recruited (sorry, can't remember her name) that was able to sense other mutants.

That's what I figured (plus, he would've recognized the place as they approached and put two and two together). Just wanted to be sure.

I've tried reading these posts to see how much I'm adding too, repeating, or being original with. But, there are only so many hours in the day - so I apologize if everything here has been said.
Select to view spoiler:
This movie lacked in pretty much every way I can think of - other than effects, but most were effects for stupidly gratuitous things. I heard that some (many?) of the characters who die, like Cyclops, were killed off because the actors didn't like where the movie was going, so they were written into death. I have to say that that's stupid. I mean, hear them out - don't just kill them off, especially if they're saying that this movie was going to be bad, 'cause it was.
This was definitely no X2. X2 was awesome, and I came out wishing I could watch things over and over again. I barely remember anything that happen that was so exciting, I want a repeat viewing.
Magneto's cold, but as others have said, he wouldn't bail on Mystique so easily. Especially since she just saved him from the Cure.
Why on earth did it go from midday to midnight so quickly after Magneto moved the bridge?
Magneto's a genius, right? Who has planned out everything he's ever done to the letter, right? So, why is his attack-to-end-all-attacks based on "Everybody run and jump at the building." Wouldn't he have organized it? Having the ranged mutants stay back and protect the up close fighters - something like that?
The script was very much lacking - everyone's been pretty clear on that. But things like Storm finishing Logan's line about loving Jean, I hate to use the word, but it was SO cheesy. There was just far too much of it.
Not only did this movie need Bryan Singer, it also needed Alan Cumming. Nightcrawler was SUCH a cool character and for FOX to whine about his paycheck was lame. I know they had differences with each other, but after making a movie like X2, you should make some sacrifices and accommodate your actors and crew. Give them what they need to make another excellent movie. Don't just get rid of them and put in filler. I'd rather this movie had been delayed and then done right by Bryan Singer than have it the way it turned out.
Keep on flyin'

I'm impressed that people actually brought up the whole anti-feminist perspective of Dark Pheonix (women with power = bad). I can't say it ruins the movie for me, but it's definitely a plot point worth discussing.

Three white dudes. But then was it me, or was the gathering of mutants in the church by and large minorities? And if not minorities, then biker/punk looking folk? And if not biker/punk looking folk, then trans, like the kid (don't remember his name, must not have gotten enough screen time and lines) who sent out shock waves with his claps and appeared male but wore a bra under his fishnet shirt?
HOLY FISHNETS BATMAN! I think that was supposed to be a weird hybrid of Rictor (not a misspelling tho it describes his powers) and Avalanche.
If this is just a cinematic device to let the kiddies know which guys are good and bad by looking at them, then we all need to examine this a little more closely. The good guys were all white (with one blue) and Storm. Everyone in power is white male. Magneto, President, Xavier and Wolverine. One black and one blue guy in the Cabinet. Bad guys are a bunch of leather-wearing minorities with tattoos and piercings.
Am i being overly PC and racially/gender paranoid, or do i have a vaild bitch here? This is coming from the viewpoint of a straight white hippie girl with a very dear biker friend and a punk boyfriend. Let me know, thanx.
No kidding. The X-Books are jam packed with people of different color and cultures but everybody is presented as 'human' above all else! The only true 'Races' or 'differences' driving the books are Human and Mutant. Color, gender and even sexuality seem unimportant next to the perceived 'Mutant threat'.
My crush? I LOVE THE COMIC BOOK ROGUE!!!
Have since she became an X-Man in issue....#170....#171?
Welcome to the X-Men Rogue....
Hope you survive the experience!
