To answer the question about music from Earth-that-was...they did make reference to a Beatle's song in the pilot episode, so I am guessing there was music brought away.

Note from a New Yorker review of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" (July 25, 2005):

Not entirely true, as a line from PotC 1 DVD commentary goes something like "One must pervert the genre whenever possible" and I know that far more than eyeliner was employed in said perversion. Hehe.
I'd love a side-by-side of River with hair blowing across her face in the escape scene from Serenity, matched with Captain Jack, hair nearly the same, as he arrives in Port Royal on the sinking boat.
Oh, and Captain Mal all by himself in the "mean old man" shot from the pilot.
Gonna try to get this to post. Ugh. 28k dialup chokes itself half to death on these heavily pictorial/motie threads, but they're so very, very pretty...
