Fellow browncoats, just a thought, but who in your opinion is the scariest villain in the FF/Serenity verse? Right now for me its a toss up between Niska & Early. What about any others?

Makes her a home." Mal

The Operative. Like Inara says, he's a Believer.

I dunno, the whole 'grandpa' image Niska has going on is pretty creepy. I mean, imagine your sweet, innocent grandfather handing guys upside down in his closet and ramming all manner of objects into their chests.

Early was pretty freaky, but his image kinda fits the personality so its slightly less "oh my god" shocking.

Niska, for me. The Operative wasn't as bad...I was more frustrated and disgusted by him. And at least he does what he does for a reason. It's not a very good reason and what he does is terrible, but there's at least some sort of logic behind it. Naska just causes pain because he likes it. And anybody who can cut off an ear with that sort of unaffected precision and hand it to someone definitely has a few screws loose.

I would have to say the Hands of Blue. The Operative is kinda cool and he only does what he has to. Niska obviously suffers from multiple mental issues. Early just dosen't scare me because all he does is try to intimidate people. HoB on the other hand, a) have the whole Agent look, b) kill to excess and c) kill you in a very horrible way.

You've got a point, StillFlyin. They're sort of like the Men in Black...only in your worst nightmares. And those blue gloves are downright unsettlin'.

I'm saying Early, because he's really crazy. With someone like that, you have no idea what's going on inside and what they'll do next and what will be the uninterpretable reason they'll give.

Strawberries are good and that's why they need to be crushed ... or some such.

It's a toss up between the Hands of Blue and the Reavers for me. The 'verse has always been about the tension between the civilized and the uncivilized, with the extremes of both being equally ugly. The Reavers and the Hands of Blue are like a twisted mirror of each other. They both kill in unnecessarily horrible ways. They both appear to operate by an alien logic that makes them hard to predict and understand; for the Reavers, the logic of rage, while for the Hands of Blue something cold, rigid, and emotionless. The Reavers are painfully chaotic and cut on themselves when they can't harm others. The Hands of Blue are painfully orderly, and immaculate to the extreme--their weapon draws blood but doesn't get bloody.

So, both the undercivilized and the overcivilized extremes of the 'Verse scare the crap out of me.
