I've got a friend who's obsessed with it and has it on her computer. I've watched several episodes with her, though haven't even gotten through the first season. It's pretty good. It's mostly well-acted, though a few undesireables come up. It has it's soap-opera moments, but mostly the stories are interesting and what I've seen has been very well-written. I would recomend it, if you're looking for something new to watch.

I am exactly looking for something new to watch. I ordered it from NetFlix based on the fact that people mention it alongside Buffy, firefly, and Battlestar Galactica, and other shows I like.

I'm quite fond of the show. I wouldn't describe myself as being slavishly devoted; I'm not familiar with the show word-for-word scene-for-scene like I am with Firefly, but it's well-written and mostly well-acted and worthy of your time.

Joss Whedon is completely obsessed with it, and if you stick around to season 2 he makes an appearance as a car rental agent.

I absolutely LOVE it!! I think, in a way, you need to watch it on DVD as it makes more sense not to have massive gaps between the shows... I love the way each show adds to the overarching season plot (cf the Buffy Big Bad) and also has an internal plot of its own … The detective thing also really makes it (in the absence of monsters) as it gives Ms Mars something to do …

It's not AS witty as Buffy or FF, but it is funny and it is totally worth buying. I got swiftly and obsessively hooked! I would put it on a par with West Wing, slightly above Wonderfalls and Sports Night and slightly below Firefly in the rankings...

Haven't seen series 2 yet as am in the UK but am DESPERATE for the DVD!!!

I've seen a few episodes, but it doesnt come on a good night for me. I thought it wasn't bad--it was still early in the season. I do have several friends who really like it. I think it made it to the new CW network that UPN and WB merged into that starts this fall.

Its a very good show. When I first saw info and commercials and so forth about it, I dismissed it as a show for teenaged girls, and being a guy in his mid 30's had no interest in checking it out. However, after the 1st season was over, I was reading something about how great a show it was, and it had the best season finale ever. So I went back and checked it out, and I was glad I did. As I said, it was a very good show. I still think it is more based for girls, but its not a "chick show" so guys won't feel wierd watching it. Wonderfalls was right on the boarder of being a "chick show" and I still liked it. Veronica Mars is less feminine than Wonderfalls.

Anyways, the second season was also good, but the overreaching story was harder to follow (especially given all the breaks the show took), but it also had a great finale.

Thanks PATSRULE. I had a very similiar experiance with BtVS. That's another reason for my curiosity.
At this time I've seen the first four episodes. More on the way. So far, so good. I'm still hopeful, even encouraged.

Very good show doesn't compare with FF. I wouldn't join a site that is devoted to it...That being said, I haven't missed an episode yet. Its a very "girlishy witty" show. I watch it for my alter ego...also I occasionally brush the hair of my barbies..but that's for a different thread...

I *wanted* to like it, based on Joss's incessant ravings about how great it is. I watched most of one episode early in Season 2, and just didn't find myself getting into it at all, so I kind of "back-burnered" it - figured I'd wait 'til I could catch it from the start - and mostly forgot about it.

Then I was at Target a while back, and VM:S1 was on sale for $22.97. At that price, I figured I'd give it a shot. I took it home, where it promptly sat on my shelf for a good 6 weeks. I decided to give it a shot, but my wife wasn't in the mood, so I had to catch a few eps when she wasn't busy watching "Idol". :(

Anyway, within about 4 episodes, I was hooked. Like Zoot, I like the "Buffiness" of the story arcs - one BIG arc for the whole season, several smaller arcs that take a few eps to work out, and then each ep has its own self-contained story. And I *love* not having to have a sheer cliff-hanger of an ending for the season. We get some resolution, and then we can get on with whatever else we have going. :)

Just finished S1 last night. I had to stop and wait for my wife to catch up. She's now as hooked as I am, and we're both waiting for S2 to come out on DVD (Aug 22, according to Amazon). I've found it's much easier to get hooked on a show if there's a marathon showing, or if you get the DVDs so you can have long, uninterrupted viewing blocks. If I have to wait a week, I can lose interest (A.D.D. anyone? :) )

Is it as good as Buffy? Welllllll... it's got similarities. I like that Veronica is a female character who's not afraid to stand up for herself, and I love her snarkiness, especially with the local constabulary. I like her rapport with her dad. The show overall is a bit soapish at times, but I can get through that, especially if it moves the story along. And as much as I hate some of the characters (Logan, anyone?), I love how they're played by the actors.

It ain't all Jossy with the greatness, but it's a pretty worthy successor to Buffy, with a few touches of Angel dropped in. It might be the best thing on TV right now, since Joss's shows, Sports Night, and West Wing are all gone. Beats the living crap out of watching yet another reality show. I watch TV to *escape* reality! VM and Gilmore Girls are probably my biggest guilty pleasures these days.
