This is the biography of the new James Bond as portrayed by Daniel Craig:

James Bond was born in West Berlin, Germany on April 13, 1968. His father Andrew Bond of Glencoe, Scotland, was a Senior Accounts Manager for Vickers Defence Systems (now BAE Systems Land & Armaments Group), while his mother Monique Delacroix Bond was originally from Yverdonm Canton de Vaud, Switzerland. Until age 11, Bond was educated in Switzerland and Germany, where his father was stationed as a Vickers executive. Both parents died in a climbing tragedy while attempting to scale north-east ridge of the Aiguille de la Persévérance. After the death of his parents, he was privately tutored by his aunt and guardian, Miss Charmain Bond (deceased) of Pett Bottom, Kent. From age 12 to 13, Bond attended Eton until he was expelled for repeated curfew violations and 'trouble' with one of the maids. He then attended his father’s alma mater, Fettes. While there he won numerous athletic competitions and twice boxed for the school as a light weight. He also formed the first intermural judo league for the public school circuit. During his teens, he spent time studying both climbing and skiing with local Austrian instructor Hannes Oberhauser during term breaks at Fettes.

After graduating from Fettes at the age of 17, Bond began attending the Britannia Royal Naval College. While there, Bond excelled in all areas of training. Bond matriculated from his coursework at BRNC with passable marks. However, whilst excelling at athletic competitions, strategic operations, and counter-intelligence courses, his unconventional approach to his education, his diffident attitude to some of his superiors, and a lack of respect for curfew drew him many demerits. On more than one occasion, a fellow candidate was strongly suspected of lying to protect Bond from punishment.

Bond conducted his year of Sea Service with high recommendations from his Chief Petty Officers and Warrant Officers. He applied for and was uniformly recommended for work in Naval Intelligence. Bond served as an intelligence officer on HMS Exeter both before and during Operation Granby, and later was able to transfer to submarine service, touring on the HMS Turbulent. His natural abilities, mental quickness and confidence impressed his commanding officers. Within the year of being assigned to HMS Turbulent, it became apparent that Bond was not being sufficiently challenged with his duties, so Bond volunteered for the Special Boat Service. Bond excelled at SC3 and Underwater and Aquatic Warfare training. He constantly equaled or bested his superior officers and instructors in all areas after nominal experience.

Bond earned the distinction of being the only candidate to entirely escape detection during the night limpet placement operation at Plymouth. There was some doubt as to whether Bond had actually accomplished the mission per the assignment until he demonstrated his rather ingenious method of eluding the underwater infra-red cameras and sonar systems in-place. His techniques were rapidly included in future training.

Upon completion of UAW training, Bond commenced Advanced Commando Parachute training at Brize Norton. A very dramatic incident occurred when Bond participated in the first group freefall exercise. At 900 meters the third jumper Lieutenant Cameron's ripcord pin jammed causing the main shoot to malfunction, and he panicked. As the fourth jumper, Bond spotted Cameron, and at great personal risk, repositioned himself to aerially intercept Lt. Cameron at approx. 450 meters, and deploy Lt. Cameron's chute. Bond deployed at 250 meters. Lt. Cameron shattered his hip upon landing, although Bond escaped without serious injury.

Bond's record with training earned him placement with the 030 Special Forces Unit, rather than deployment as a swimmer-canoeist with the standard SBS Units in Poole. I like the direction the Bond series is taking. Enough with the absurd stunts and cheesy dialogue. It was fun for the first 20 movies, but a more serious Bond would be a welcome change. Daniel Craig has taken a lot of heat from Bond "purists" mainly because he's blond and blue eyed, which are moronic objections of course. His acting ability isn't in doubt, anyone who wants to see what he is capable of on screen should rent Layer Cake. He's a first rate actor, likely the best actor to play Bond.

Im not a bond purist, but...

They should keep it the same as any other bond and refere to past events but not state chronological dates, Licence to Kill, for instance, hinted that James was married, but didnt state the date because it was physically impossible for Tim Daltons Bond to still look young and to have married back in the late 60s, so therefore didnt mention a date. Same as World is not enough, where Elecktra asked bond if he had lost anyone he loved, he didnt say anything, but the fans knew what he was thinking, and again, it would be impossible for Brosnans bond to marry in the late sixties and still look the same, also, Goldeneye about the accident his parents had, couldnt be possible to mention that date in ANY bond film and for it to make sense, so it is refered to without a date, just the accident.

I think im babbling on about crap here, i dunno, maybe it makes sense to others.

All im saying is, they shouldnt change too much.

I like Bond movies that are in the You Only Live Twice/Tomorrow Never Dies range of seriousness, otherwise, just make more George Smiley movies.
Realism and Bond don't mix well.

Yeah like that one Bond movie where he was up in the mountains trying to escape, while some guy was starting up a plane. He jumps in, knocks the guy out, and then some troopers started shooting at him, so he runs off to deal with them. Meanwhile, the aircraft, with its engine running starts heading down this hill and goes off the edge. Bond after killing the troopers, jump on a motorcycle and goes chasing the plane. He jumps that motor bike off that cliff. Meanwhile, the plane is in freefall and so is bond. Bond somehow manages to fall faster than the plane, he gets in, and pulls the plane out of its power-dive, and flies off into the sunset. Exciting? Yes! Your brain in complete, suspend disbelief-mode? Hell yes! Realistic? No.

I like the James Bond movies, but I think they should take a more realistic approach instead of the same old stuff that they did in the past. I feel this very strongly to the point that I was glad that Bond got captured in that movie with Halley Berry. The North Koreans kicked his ass, and when he finally got back to HQ, everyone was disappointed in him and thought he had sold out. That was real and refreshing.

And what’s with the names of Bond Movies? Tomorrow never Dies, Die another day, Die Tomorrow for Today, The Day after Tomorrow you Die. Last Week We Died for Next Week. Creepy.

And what’s with the need to always have a Super model in a Bond movie all the time? The next movie they should have a fat, greasy woman with an over-bite wearing a Walmart wig play a Bond girl that James falls in love with, and wants to rescue. LoL! Right!

Then he's gonna quietly target his adversary with a high powered rifle with night vision and shoot his head off, then go home to the average house he can afford on government pay and take prescription anti-depressants.

I'm a big Bond fan, but the last few movies haven't felt that great to me. Although they do the same things, they have a different effect on me. I felt bored during Die Another Day, yet I can still go back and catch Goldfinger or Live and Let Die on TV and enjoy them. I'm not opposed to taking the character in a different direction if it rekindles my interest in the new movies.

I would also like to bring up the fact that, in Goldeneye, to clearly convey the difference between the previous M and the new M, Bond clealry states "Your predecessor kept some congac in the top drawer", hinting that she is new to the post. Again, When meeting Valentine, Valentine says "And i hear that the new M is a lady, Ha Ha Haaaaaaa" again hinting that the previous boss was male. And again, when he catches up with Alec, Alec also says "I hear the new M is woman, how times change"

Now howcome, all of a sudden, they are throwing the continuity out of the window and into a hobos burning barrell on the street to have the new M stating that it was too early to promote him, clearly stating that SHE promoted him when in actual fact, according to Brosnans films, the previous M promoted Bond.

"It just dont mak no sense" To quote Jayne.

I am not gonna judge the direction Sony & MGM are going in for "Casino Royale" till I see it with my own two peepers, really.

I like the idea they are trying to keep the core mythology intact but allow for modernization of the supporting details.

And while I have enjoyed the previous 20 Bond films, I have to agree that a change was needed. Invisible cars are cool, but that's going past what any Bond writer (Fleming, Gardner or Benson) have come up with. Plausibility of gadgets helps make the plot points.
